BYU QB Reportedly Transferring

Count on Gopherhole to turn this story into an anti-religion rant.
Where did it get anti-religion? Please explain. I am 100% a Christian. I was making a comment about my personal experience growing up in a catholic environment and someone else posted something to confirm my statement.

It's not even "anti-Catholic" it was just a criticism. If you criticize one aspect of our football program, are you anti-Gopher football?

I agree. But, I guess I didn’t see posts in this thread calling out those people.
No, you simply saw a post or two making a simple criticism of ONE specific church and you took it way too personally and then made an assumption about the poster that isn't even true.

Nice work. Normally I agree with a lot of your posts.

EDIT: now I get it. You have some previous experience with JZABR from the OT board and so that was also in your mind when you read the post. Helps explain your response, but none of that OT stuff was mentioned here dude.

If he's still transferring, I hope PJ has reached out. I don't care if he drowns a puppy daily.
Thanks Kristi!!!
This isn't your daddy's college football, it’s a business. And we ought to be in the business of winning games. Is Lawrence Phillips still alive?
You have no boundaries or filters!!!

No Jager Bombs for you!!
Does he still have eligibility?

yes. automatic dink and clearly hate the Gophers and/or PJ

you new to GopherHole?

I kid, I kid

It must suck to be Jake Ratzlaff (Rosemount, MN) former UMN hockey recruit who went to play football at WI and now plays hockey at St Thomas and everyone is using the spelling of his name when referring to this BYU story
Fun fact about that Jake Ratzlaff - he has had the privilege of losing to the gophers 6 times now in his athletic career. He lost the axe game twice in 2021 and 2022, then decided to play hockey at UST where they have twice been swept by the gophers in his time there.

Not really relevant to this story, but something that puts a smile on my face.

I don't know enough about hockey...why did he have to go to St. Thomas? Or is St. Thomas good for hockey? I have no clue on the divisions or anything, but I thought he was highly regarded in high school. Did he just mature faster than his peers and wasn't all that good really?

Basically, why isn't he skating at the U of M? Wasn't it going to be either Gopher hockey or badger football for him?

At the time of his deciding it was believed to be badger football vs gopher hockey. A couple years without hockey and some football related injuries probably changed that a bit. I'm not tuned in with what went into his decision and he's a fine enough player but I think he's a much less highly regarded hockey prospect now vs when he was 17.

There are no criminal charges. Sheesh.
Some people just can't be wrong. And then @mkAz brings in a new link that hadn't been in this thread yet and has the nerve to say I missed it.

Just admit you were wrong and there are/were no criminal charges.

Thanks. I can see that. I work in software and if I was to take a few years off, I'd be rusty too. For high level competition, you probably do need to be doing it year-round.

I don't go on the OT board to avoid that stuff. You are right, I probably took it a little too personal, but saying that a completely different religion than the one in specific to this thread values donations over morality, seems a little odd. A silly statement to begin with, but also a stretch to try to shoe horn it into a college football board. Oh well, it is Gopherhole. Better to just roll your eyes and move on.

I don't like BYU/the Mormon church any more than the next guy but these athletes know what they are getting into as it pertains to the honor code. He admitted to a violation of the code and is receiving punishment.
I agree. its not harsh enough though. that's why I suggested tar and feather

That link was in the original article that you skimmed.

No sex. No booze. No smoke. No weed. No foul language. No caffeine.

That's not college...it's more like work release. 😉
