Happy John Candy Day!

Cool to see this Pop up this morning

I thought it was really interesting that he got the gig with nobody realizing who his old man was. It wasn't a nepo casting.

With the beard he is the spitting image of Pavorotti/John Candy.

They actually were in Spielberg's 1941, but Candy's role was pretty small and I can't even recall if they shared any screen time.
Good to know.

I was thinking it would have been cool to see them in a flick like Bing Crosby and Bob Hope did will their Road to movies - I watched em with my Dad, he loved them, as he grew up on them.

Agreed. They also share a Second City Theater connection, though different troupes, Belushi/Chicago & Candy/Toronto.

This is tremendous news.

Pretty special given the relationship Colin Hanks' father had with Candy. Also I really enjoyed the documentary I saw if his about the rise and fall of Tower Records.

Sidebar - Ryan Reynolds seems to handle his celebrity very well, by doing lots of fun, diverse things. His buying a stake in Mint Mobile was genius and apparently very lucrative.
