2025 Transfer Portal Watch

I don’t know if this ever got posted. I know I never saw it.

I was actually holding out that maybe he would find his way back.

During last season and In looking at his 2023 highlights, i often thought that a defense first, rebounding guard was missing last years team. And maybe from next years roster too

I hear you...but with Thorson on staff who got to evaluate him first hand when healthy they must feel they can do better. Rhode Island is not exactly a step up for Cochran.
Having said that...I do wonder IF he could have been the difference to say three more conference wins and putting the Gophers on the bubble?

I swear they have 30 roster spots to fill
It does feel like USC, Indiana and Iowa have signed an insane number of transfers yet looking at 247 USC and Iowa have each brought in 8 (1 more than we have) and Indiana has brought in 10.

Just crazy that we are seeing teams with entirely new rosters from one year to the next not due to graduation.

I'm a little confused as to why a seemingly bottom of the bench player, who also appears to be a walk-on for a bottom SEC school is getting so much hype...He's the brother of a good player, sure as heck doesn't mean he's any good. This doesn't seem like much of a big move.

Edit: This is in response to Liebert, Fuller and others seemingly acting like this is a big "not messing around" move from St. Thomas. I find it a bit embarrassing they're reacting like this without seemingly looking at the actual player and just seeing his name and brother.
It's 100% because he is Herro's brother.

It's not a bad signing by St. Thomas but it's inline with what you'd expect other than his last name being Herro.

I’m curious where USC is getting the money. Unless they are putting it on credit card anticipating the revenue share. There isn’t a long history of great support of basketball at USC to think people are bankrolling fake NIL and I would suspect that in such a huge and saturated entertainment market that college basketball players aren’t going to be on the top of the list to pitch products and services. I assume football gets the biggest share of media money.

Muss has a great reputation for transfers and that might help, but I don’t see them having huge amounts of cash to lure them in.

Evidently, Musselman is not only good at attracting players but also donors. I agree with you historically, but Jeff Goodman and his podcast partner agree they got money now. They were worried about the mix of players signed and therefore the money drying up if the results don't follow.

FWIW- per 247

Last year we go 6 transfers with an average ranking of 87 and we rated as the 86th best transfer squad

This year we have 7 with an average ranking of 89 and we rank 46th- so far.

Major caveat that Dawson Garcia was apparently the majority of our NIL budget last year. I think one site was ranking these with all players, not just transfers.
