Don't get me wrong, I wish Shedeur nothing but the best. It looks like he's going to have to do it the hard way, relatively speaking, moving forward. A lot of competition to be the Browns starting quarterback. It will be an amazing battle! Their quarterback room includes Deshaun Watson (injured), Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur.

"Sales couldn’t have been too brisk on 2Legendary (Shedeur’s) website, which offered two T-shirts and a hoodie ranging from $75 to $100 (each)."

Lots of commentary on his draft. Every NFL locker room has gifted athletes but to be successful the team needs them to reign in their egos for the betterment of the team. I don’t know if he can or can’t do that but many teams obviously were questioning both his talent n character. I do think calling yourself “ legendary “ b4 playing any NFL games suggests he has a lot of work ahead of him.

I think Shedeur is a first round talent, but what he would do your locker room is why he had trouble getting selected, in my opinion. Jealousy is a real thing...Shedeur brings a circus similar to Aaron Rodgers without his NFL accomplishments. Too much media frenzy all about Shedeur will be very disruptive.

Rodgers wasn't a distraction early in his career. In fact, he took over for a distraction. The Sanders family is a walking distraction and would be from the minute he stepped on the pratice field.

My question is did he slide or is that his talent level??? GMs aren’t idiots unless the kid just stunk it up in pre draft meetings. And I’d so I hope his dad tones it back if he don’t want his other son to “ slide”…

I read that he was arrogant in interviews. He and his dad told teams what they expected and the way they wanted things to be once they were on the team. Dad also made the comment that if a team drafts him that they don't like then they would hold out until the next draft.

Lottery ticket for the Browns.....if he gets his act together they got a potential high round talent in the 5th round. If he doesn't they can just cut him and they are not out much.

Shedeur has to get himself ready to compete for a starting job for probably the first times in his career.

Mine cost me even more than that

He didn’t slide. He had no entitlement to a first round contract

He'll make up the $44 million by doing an endorsement for Chutes and Ladders.

He'll be a cancer in the locker room. Just like Jimmy Bulter or Stephen Diggs, demands a trade and refuse to play.
The bigger issue was his skills not his character. He doesn't have a great arm and put up big numbers against bad teams and really struggled against quality competition. He just isn't a very good prospect.

I think it's a combination. When you have elite talent, NFL teams will take you and do some combination of assuming they can work on the weird sideshow baggage and hoping it doesn't become a problem. When you are a good not great college qb like Sanders, there are enough other options in your talent tier that they can pick from options who they may not prefer strictly from an on field perspective, but are close enough that they are content to avoid the headache.

If Sanders were viewed as the best QB in the draft, the Coach Prime circus wouldn't have mattered. But since he wasnt, I still think he would have gone sooner than 5th round if it weren't for the clown show.

Think this pretty much nails it.

Never understood the top 5 draft pick projections, didn't think there was any way an NFL team would want to risk their franchise by taking him that high. He has talent but doesn't have the leadership qualities needed to be an NFL QB. Then you factor in the family circus that comes with his dad and it is even more reason for teams to stay away.

Browns taking Shedeur in the 5th round makes sense as a lottery ticket. They have other options so if he doesn't pan out they can just cut him. But if he does they got a high end talent really cheap.

That and all the bragging about turning around a program by himself.

Did this happen? I mean, he is young but oof.
There have been some comments released about how entitled Shedeur came across in the interviews and how he made others in the room feel small.

I have a feeling that the kid is in for a massive wakeup call now that he is no longer playing for daddy and can't get away with all the same crap he has been getting away with for years.

NFL teams made it very clear that they don't think he is a special talent which was probably pretty shocking to a player who had his number retired right after he was done playing college football. :)

For his sake I hope he figures it out but won't be shocked if he is out of the NFL in a year or two.

This will be the real test of him. Maybe getting his but kicked without dad around laying out the red carpet will be just what he needs. Maybe he won't be able to handle it. But it seems like he did feed into the circus a little bit, which makes me less sympathetic to him than one of Lavar Ball's kids (was it the best one who never really seemed to do anything to play into the Lavar Ball circus that he was stuck with)?

The Ball kids always came across as being held hostage by dad's antics whereas Shedeur has come across as a willing participant in Deion's.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out (really glad the Vikings are not mixed up in it). If I was going to bet on it I would bet he goes the way of other NFL busts and makes a quick exit from the league.

Maybe Deion will leave Colorado to go coach a UFL team and bring in Shedeur to be his QB.

From NBC Sports

“If that’s not what you’re trying to do, don’t get me. If you ain’t trying to change the franchise or the culture, don’t get me. You should know that history repeats itself over and over and over. I’ve done it over and over and over, so it should be no question why an NFL franchise should pick me.”

There was more from an ESPN article, where he said something like his dad changed around 2 college programs back to back, so why won't I change an NFL franchise.

Rookie talking like that, at one point that would have drawn the ire of every veteran in the room and the rookie would NOT be having a good time ...

That approach by vets certainly had its downsides, I don't endorse it, but man that quote would have drawn a response after he shows up to spring training.

Yeah, but Stephon Diggs got us a pick that turned into JJ and Jimmy Butler netted the Bulls a haul from the Wolves.

They were worth the headaches while they were cheap.

There is a lot of competition in that room by numbers but almost no competition in that room as far as talent. He has a legit chance of starting games next season.

I am saying this about Dillon Gabriel too, he's got a shot to start. I don't know if I could say that about any other spot.

I think Watson is done. Flacco is Flacco. Kenny Pickett is Kenny Pickett.

Agree with all this. I'd feel bad if I was Gabriel. Talk about an unnecessary problem to deal with, the Sanders fiasco. Flacco has made a ton and got his ring, so no worries about him. Picket got lucky being drafted in the first round and isn't gonna be around long, so no worries on him either. But man, to have to be on the same team as Sanders....

This is exactly it.

The other part of it is that no team wants a distraction as a backup QB. We saw it with Tebow. We saw it with Kapernick (if you believe he really wanted to come back).

If you're a Teddy Bridgewater level talent, with a Johnny Manziel level ego and Tim Tebow level spotlight chasing your around, teams just don't want to deal with it. I think if you adjusted any of those three variables (talent, attitude, spotlight) he's a 2nd round pick minimum.

The antics annoy me, but I think he's pretty talented. I think he's considerably more talented than Gabriel or Pickett.

Yeah, he is in a very strange situation. That said, he's in a crappy QB room and his biggest competition is a Shadeur (a guy with some baggage).

Shedeur might have the most talent in the room but I'm not sure he has the mental ability to be a NFL QB.

Most of his success in college was tied to being an athlete and having Travis Hunter out there to bail him out. You can get away with that in college, doesn't work so well in the NFL.

Can he read defenses and make the right throws......I highly doubt it.

Browns QB "battle" will be interesting to watch play out. 5 bodies but only 2 or 3 will actually make the team. They have a lot of options.....not many good ones.....but a lot of options.
