With all due respect to Ronnie Porter (she's good), unless there's a significant loss to the portal, I think she'd be way down the depth chart as the Gophers have plenty of bigger guards with more potential.

I vote no. Another low-post plodder with no ability to space the floor is not what the Gophers need. With Braun returning, the Gophers should finally be able to play faster, especially when Hart is not on the floor. Would rather the other post options be a rim runner (Holloway) and a 3-point spacer (a la Stewart). A Hart-Merkle combination would not help the Gophers move up, IMO.

I would welcome Porter. She brings BigTen experience, averaging about 32 minutes in conference play. She averaged about 7 points, 4 rebs, and 2-3 TO. She doesn’t get to the line often, but averages 82% when she does. Not a 3 point threat… may have a steal or two.
Would “slow” be a better description than plodder?

In 2008 the Gophers made the tournament. UConn was hosting the first two games... a few of us made the trip. Mya Moore was a Freshman... I was in awe of how she played the game... can't help but think her skills matched exactly what Coach Auriemma was looking for the position she played. When I watch JuJu Watkins, I think of Moore.
Porter has been a starter so maybe looking for starter minutes. Sanders would have 3 years of eligibility. However maybe not even entering the portal…..just fun to speculate on Minnesota kids. I don’t take anything too serious. I do think Minnesota is looking for a backup PG. I also think post season eligible St Thomas and their new arena is looking for a pg to replace Jade Hill. So it will be interesting to see if they come into play at all as far as going after the same kids.

HMM... Rose, Annika, Jordan, and Maggie are done. Eleven returning. Two incoming recruits. Players such as Brynn, Mckenna, and Kennedy do not see the court often. One of these three is probably leaving. My guess with no inside info would be Mckenna, but Brynn is a question mark.
