The best college basketball Cinderella story you won’t hear about in March (St Thomas Tommies)

Yes, you are 100% correct, coaches at lower levels don't do any scouting. They just throw the ball out there and tell their guys they're on their own and to just have fun.

Also, do your homework instead of spouting nonsensical jibberish. If St. Thomas made the field, they wouldn't be anywhere near the 16 line based on their season/resume, etc. They'd be a 14.

Exactly! I guess Shaka, McDermott, Madsen and Devries… didn’t scout UST… only Big 10 teams scout.. I was at 3 of those games.. their offense seemed to work .. 😝

I remember at Drake year one UST power forward was 6’3 starting center Bjorklund was out.. kid starting at center first start… UST rained threes.. The Great Devries had no answer must of not scouted? When UST scored he would turn to his bench put his hands up and yell.. classic.. The Deviries kid made some big shots to bail them out and they made their FT’s if I remember

16 every time

Great repeating your moronic statements.. put yourself on ignore… yes Summit teams are less talented and are16 seeds.. your discovery of this is outstanding.. ask Purdue about a 16…

What a dip $hit…
Look at that, I poked a Tommie and now he's butt hurt.

My favorite thing in this board is when people who hate st Thomas bump Tommie threads and when people who don’t think there should be talk about high school sports bump high school sports threads
Wouldn't it be great if the owners deleted these threads.

16 every time
You obviously don't deal in facts before spouting your hubris.

Summit League seeds post-Corona:

2021: #15 Oral Roberts (reaches Sweet 16)
2022: #13 South Dakota State
2023: #12 Oral Roberts
2024: #15 South Dakota State

So yes, just like you said, "16 every time."

If Omaha wins, they're probably a border line 15 or 16, could go either way. So please come back and pound your chest if Omaha gets a 16. And I'm sure if St. Thomas loses you'll be back here to tell us what bums they are for advancing to a championship game and losing. Knock yourself out if the Tommies lose!

Why don't you put him on ignore? I did that weeks ago after a few exchanges. As George Bernard Shaw once said: "One doesn't have to eat an entire barrel of apples to know that it is rotten."

I mean it's definitely cool.....but getting through two hockey schools in Denver and North Dakota.....who were both way under .500 in both total and in conference....isn't exactly a major accomplishment. The Summit has to be one of the worst conferences in division 1 basketball.

I like the threads that discuss something other than the same thing-- there are more threads about firing Ben Johnson than there are about anything else, and there hasn't been much new there since page 2 of some 29 page threads, so I like threads about the DII and DIII teams and the high school thread and the rare Tommies thread and even the coaches fired thread. Heck even the annual complain about the MN kids on the Badgers thread is interesting.

If your only interest in college basketball is the MN Gophers, you are missing the whole rest of the sport. Broaden your horizons, challenge yourself to learn something new about someone else. Or don't , I guess I don't care, I'm just trying to help.

just for reference-- Gophers beat Omaha by 4 early this year after being down 3 at the half.
the Tommies split with Omaha this year

Gophers beat Oral Roberts by 23 -- Tommies beat them by 5 and 15
personally I think the Tommies would get worn down by the Gophers size, just as they probably will tonight by Omaha. But I prefer to watch the style of play that the Tommies have. Movement, cutting, driving, making shots and free throws and working hard on defense. It's not all "working harder because you are smaller", tho there is some of that. I think it is just more of an expectation and a demand and is part of the (getting ready to duck here) culture.

Good post!

The Summit is currently ranked #17 of 31. So bottom half, but nowhere near one of the worst conferences in Division 1.

Well said.

In fairness to the posters that have TDS (Tommie Derangement Syndrome), the Tommies split with Oral Roberts, a really bad loss.

Not as bad as you might think according to this NET ranking by conference showing the conferences ranked below them (Summit ranked 17th)
