All Things 2024-25 College Basketball Other Games Thread

Good news in the Patriot League. Navy takes down one seed Bucknell with Navy point guard hitting 20/21 free throws. American takes down cocky and entitled Colgate. Navy goes for its third straight road win for an opportunity for the tournament. I wonder how much their NIL budget is.

It was massive but just got eliminated by DOGE.

First time I've watched Drake this year. Dude clearly knows what he's doing. His players have both skill and tenacity, which will get you far.

Will be interesting if he sticks around or moves on at some point. I mean, he's just getting started at Drake, so who knows what he might build there.

Reminds me of Keno Davis’s first season so… he’ll probably end up somewhere else. I’m hoping it ends differently in the tournament. Big difference was Keno didn’t amount to much at Providence. This coach feels different (hopefully not a long term guy at Iowa).

The blank on the resume for me is what does he do with guys who are only with him for a year or two. As I understand it, the core of Drake’s team has been with him for three years and they played like it. The world is different now and hiring managers need to figure out a way to discern if a guy can with 1-2 year players. Really hard to measure right now.

Manyawu the Sophomore big was a transfer from Wyoming. He was a game changer in many games and would be the guy I would point to in this scenario. I would still agree that it’s reasonable to question how he’d address the NIL era coming from D2/Drake. Personally I think he’d win building a system that revolves around players that fit said system (even if they’re 1-2 year players like you’re saying).

Anyone else watching Furman and Wofford? Really entertaining ballgame. On a side note the Wofford big man shoots free throws underhanded and he hits more than several Gophers players.
The Tank may need to take notes

i was on board with that plan-- until I looked into it further and he was 3 for 7 tonight and 31% on the year. It would be worth a try in practice for a 40% guy though

It sounds like he switched to underhand during the season. He was shooting below 30% when he switched so 3-7 is an improvement.

That was a great game....so fun to watch. Some of the shot-making by both teams made me very jealous as a Gopher fan.......

The game can be very entertaining when the ball is moved and players can shoot. I thought both teams even played pretty good defense too. Well played game. Wofford now becomes a dangerous 14 or 15 seed.

What's the deal with the Big 12 tournament court? The floor looks like an elementary school cafeteria.

Utah has been outscored by 24-7 in the second half by UCF and now trails by 16 points with a bit less than 12 minutes left.

Just watched the Badger whip Northwestern.
And I must say Nick Martinelli is one of the ugliest, non-aesthetic players in the history of basketball, but DAMN, he's effective, even with the whole team keying in on him.

This BGSU team is going to be a force in the MAC and would spank the Gophers (I guess we can't type out Goofs) if they played. #6, Johnson, is already my fan favorite.
#277 BGSU lost by 30 to Akron today to mercifully end their well-below .500 season. A force they were not. Spank-ees.
