Now that he's gone, you know they'll come out. He was a loose cannon and I bet he ended up in Maturi and Bruinicks office more than once. The real scoop on how things went down will be good for some laughs.

-Reaction to Pasadena grass, Gopher Nation, Rose Bowl Guarantee speech
-Tearing apart Maturi prior to first game
-Response to Bowling Green loss and picture of him laying on turf in Star Tribune
-Firing Dunbar on his own
-Reusse tweet
-Turnover on staff
-Recruits not qualifying
-Inflated head after fast start and program turn quote
-Ego after being mentioned for Tennessee job
-Floating name for Kansas job
-Politics of the extension
-The USD loss

I'm sure there are more. He was a character and shameless. An entertainer. Got to give him that much. Reusse was brilliant to make sure he got the Turkey Award in last year knowing he'd be gone for this year's coronation.

Tim Brewster was a rookie coach with a big mouth who could talk the talk as well as any coach I have ever seen. He could write a book on what NOT to do when you become a new coach.

His biggest mistake was changing the schemes each year, but also right up there was not having a core group of good assistants who knew how to run them properly. We kept hearing from rival schools laughing at us that we took guys like Dunbar or Cosgrove while others like Withers did much better somewhere else after they left.

They should have known by the end of last year that he wasn't going to get the job done but I can't argue giving him a shot for one more year. This year was pretty much inevitable and I got into several arguments with guys like Schoodler on here who just didn't see it yet before the season started. Unfortunately, this year is a disaster of epic proportions and even those guys can see it clearly now.

I just wish they would have let him finish off the season so his all-time won loss record would be lower than Jim Wacker's because he certainly deserves that distinction.

just for old times sake...

lets compare him to Glen Mason one more time

Withers

I'm not sure you should include Withers in your argument considering the trouble the NC coaching staff is in now.

Actually, Withers DID enjoy a lot of success at North Carolina after he left, at least ON the field. I think he knows what he is doing on the football field at least.

Really manly posts

You should be embarassed of yourselves. Nice supporters of the program, "guys".

lets compare him to Glen Mason one more time

Actually, we don't have to - Mason looks pretty darn good right now and everyone knows it, too. The next coach that comes in will be compared to Brewster and that should bode fairly well for that guy, whoever he is.

With that level of cheating, I would hope they were successful on the field. Their d line coach could serve time under NC law.

Well, I am not sure what all Withers did in that whole mess. His defense really didn't do very well while he was here, but he didn't have that much to work with, either. I really hope the next coach can build a great defense because that is what we have been lacking for years!!!

Novel idea

I have a great idea.

How about we, as fans, actually look FORWARD instead of looking back? Is it really necessary to keep looking in the rear view mirror?

Let's dig deep and take another look at the Whacker regime, what did and didn't go well there. That might be productive.

Who wants to go first?

I support the program.....just not Tim Brewster. There IS a difference!!!!

You may think you are a great supporter of "the program" but most of the fans who really are Gopher supporters think you are a piece of "sh*t". It is not enough for you that a guy who has spent the last 3 1/2 years pouring his heart and soul into turning the Gopher football program around is publicly humiliated in front of the entire football world. You also need to participate in a thread to dredge up more crap to use against Brewster after he is already dead and buried. You should go screw yourself because I doubt anybody else would do it for you.

You missed some:

- Mullah in Taliban
- Heavy Cocaine user
- Required crack use for starters
- Exchanged free medical care from Dr. Weber for never benching son
- Masterminding both Bachman and Dayton campaigns
- Murdered a number of drifters and hobos
- Swapped drugs for guns with Mexican Cartels
- Advocated banning hetrosexual marriage and mandating same sex marriages
- and the worst crime of all: wasn't Mason.

Always nice to see the Grave Dancer's Union finally check in.

Sorry there guy, no need to act like a jerk on my behalf, Tim Brewster did a horrible job and everyone in the country knows it. In four seasons, he most likely would have had two 1-11 seasons and I don't think too many other teams would be saying "Let's be nice" right now if he did it to them. I don't care if he poured his heart and soul into a job he was not prepared to do or the fact that he did not know what he was doing, he was paid very well and he simply did not get the job done.

Tim Brewster will continue to get paid very well by the U of M and next year I am sure he will be an assistant or recruiting coordinator somewhere else. He will probably do just fine at it, but you can be very sure he won't be a head coach for a long, long time if ever again.

Why keep piling on then?

Why keep piling on then?

Actually these were the first posts I have made since he was fired - hardly "piling on."

I am just pretty ticked off at the whole Brewster Era and how badly it all went. As a fan, I just hate to see the team get this bad, yet again. I don't think fans are out of line at all in ripping the guy for the job that he did. It's nothing personal - he is just a lousy head coach. Give the fans some time to vent, anywhere else would be MUCH much worse.

Yep, that's very productive since there hasn't been a chance to before now.

COME ON guys -- Tim Brewster just got fired as the head coach only about 24 hours ago. THIS IS BIG NEWS. You can't just say, "Well let's not talk about THAT anymore."

anywhere else they would realize he was already fired and would be jacked to think of the possibilities of a new coach and staff that might turn this program around. not trying to see if they can get others to try and bitch about how bad brewster did. you made this thread to just try and rip a guy, pretty sad!

Those of us who didn't like Brewster and Weber were ripped merciously for the past 3 years and we deserve some time on here to vent. Brew had one good game in 4 years, the upset of MSU. He took the program down and he pranced around like Mussolini. He never gave Gray a shot and he kept Weber in there no matter what. He fired Dunbar when he should have benched Weber.

I don't mind you guys venting. No question you've got the passion.

The only Brewster story I'm curious about is whether or not it was true he was a pimp for a stable of transvestite midget hookers.

We started 7-1 in 2008, that was kinda fun. You could maybe make a case that at least one of those qualifies as a "good game" for Brew. ;)

You lost me at Bruinicks. There is no such person. The president of the University of Minnesota is Bob Bruininks.

Yep, I was one of those guys who ripped the rippers last year. As far as I'm concerned, you're entitled to some time to vent.

Let's just hope they find a solid coach who we can all support going forward.

Actually, I did not "make this thread".....but don't let the facts get in the way here. And I have every right to complain - I watched a lot of bad football games the last four years!!!

And yeah, I AM hopeful we can get a better coach than what we had the last four years - it shouldn't be too hard, really. OK, that's the last time I will complain about Tim Brewster - you have got to give me at least ONE DAY to vent!!!!

Rip on Brew's ineptitude as a coach: Yes.

Rip on Brew for 'speculation' as a bad guy: No.

There's a difference.

I ripped him early and didn't like him before game one because he was all mouth. But, it was almost fun having him around despite the losing. The Reusse feud was comical- the tweet and the enemy of gopher sports quote. We're entitled to looking back at his greatest hits and having a few laughs. He provided the material.
