Northwestern Fires Pat Fitzgerald

That’s exactly what confuses me about situations like this. Year after year, how is there a bunch of guys that want to do this? We are talking jNWU also, so we are talking about very smart people. It baffles me.
It happens because guys who survived it as freshmen now get to humiliate some new scared freshman and feel the power of dominance over the new guy in the rite of passage. I'm king now!

Athletic story
The Athletic story is mostly quotes from the President. This guy is in way over has head. His logic, his steps to decisions, his conclusions are just baffling how this man is in this position.

"Additionally, Schill wrote that the hazing “was well-known by many in the program, though the investigator failed to find any credible evidence that coach Fitzgerald himself knew about it” and that Schill recently learned many details of the independent investigation, and spoke with the complainant and his parents.
He read the report and talked to the whistle blower AFTER announcing Fitzgerald's two week suspension. Just a lot of head scratching steps and conclusions he comes to.

“I encourage all of you to rally around the young men in our football program as they take the field this fall." You know, the guys who did the hazing. All is well, that ends well. Boys will be boys.
Carry on.
Geez, this sounds similar to the EOAA going after Li'l Ricky's Hoopsters. They want you gone because of specious reasons so the administration greases the slide.

Not players, but Joe knew his assistant raped children and did nothing about it / covered it up. I’d say that is close enough.
Not to totally derail this discussion, but the whole details around that story, the trial, the testimony, etc are very interesting. Lots of books/literature/chapters on it that just make it a little more interesting on how fast we were to crucify all involved with what was actually said/known

Anywho, they have any recruits/players we should go after? We may not have the best NIL but our culture is light years further ahead

They just found a way to lose games. They were never really completely incompetent

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is Bama OC at some point and is another reclamation project of Saban. He probably has to win at the non P5 level to get a P5 job again though.
He's not a good HC. Can't be that unlucky with all that talent. Mike Riley won more games in less time and had a better win %.

I don’t know if I want really any guys who potentially partook in dry jumping their teammates or stood by willingly. Have to imagine many of these guys will be tagged until it fully comes out what happened

Recruits a different story

I don't know if coach fired immediately opens the portal in football or not? If not I think the portal is closed in football until after the season.

Frost is an alcoholic who cared more about drinking than showing up for his job, which is why he was fired just a few weeks before his buyout dropped.

Sarkisian was at least a functioning alcoholic, who ran decent P5 programs. Frost is neither. He has a long road ahead of him before he gets even a decent assistant job again.

ESPN reporting the DC will be interim HC. Can't think that will last long.

Apparently the administration agreed there were forced sexual acts. Wonder if the masks part makes it hard to “prove” who did what though those players certainly know

“The hazing included forced participation, nudity and sexualized acts of a degrading nature, in clear violation of Northwestern policies and values," Schill wrote.

You’re not going to get a debate from me on any of that.
But I also don’t think he is a horrible head coach.

Giving him another job wouldn’t be like giving Brewster or Tim Beckman another job is more what I’m saying

Sarkisian was let go in October by USC I think.

Sarkisian 55.6% win percentage as a head coach
Frost has a 47.9% but most of his wins weren’t at a P5 school

I never said frost was as good as Sarkisian (or even mentioned Sarkisian). Although their history has successful pac 12 OCs followed by some success as head coaches before apparently having some issues with alcohol is interesting. although Sarkisian’s issues are documented by his employer whereas frosts are merely rumored. I think it’s interesting you said Sarkisian is the functional alcoholic when he is the one who got fired for being drunk on the job at USC.
