2023 College Basketball Transfer Portal Watch Thread

Go all out to get this guy. He’ll easily be Ben’s best free agent pickup if he can nab him.

Agreed.

I do think Ryan James had set he was hoping to transfer to a school (any) in North Carolina.

NC State was the only one in on him at the time.

I’m with you, I think he’d put us in th e Tourney.

He's got some serious quickness and hops. Gets his shot of quick.

Is he our mystery visitor????

It may get to the point where high school guys go to a mid major and transfer to a P6 program if they make the grade. A farm system process.
i fear this is where we are headed. The players who get under recruited prove themselves at a mid major or even power five conference and THEN the big boys are interested. Miraculously the word gets out that if they would only enter the transfer portal ____________ (North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Oregon, Miami, USC, Michigan St.) might be interested, and there just might be some NIL money too. Wink, wink! A recent example: Former DePaul star Aneesah Morrow announced on Friday that she is joining Kim Mulkey's squad at LSU. Morrow also considered transferring to USC and South Carolina, which won the national championship in 2022. She averaged 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game her sophomore year. DePaul became a developmental farm team and LSU skims the best from the top. Probably the biggest losers will be mid majors and D2, whose best players will end up somewhere else.

PSU killing it in the portal. Geez.
I would guess we could have had that kid if we wanted him. He may well be talented but there are also a few bad signs there....so I'm not sure that's killing it. I hope we have built a team.

We now have the talent. Now constructing the team is the project.

Really like to see one more added. 6’5” that can shoot, handle, play D and has tons of “winning” experience.
Probably asking for too much, but one can dream. Dang, I wish Pride would have said yes. Anyways, someone like him. The UMKC player is more than welcome.

Like what?

Yeah that Pride miss sucks, I want the Ball State kid now but I've heard he's more coveted.

Are we at 11 scholarships plus 12th for Ramberg, and 13th open?

Mitchell, Hawkins, Wilson, Garcia, Ihnen, Fox, Payne, Carrington, JOJ, Betts, and Christie are the 11.

I can see Ben giving Reader the last spot or possibly Purcell. Ben has a hard time playing more than 8 guys per game. I hope that changes. The young guys need some minutes to keep them out of the portal. Henley got too many minutes last year early.
Often times he's had little to no choice to play 7,8 players but I think this year he's got the best overall roster he's had here so I think that'll expand, in my opinion.

Was reading that he's most likely to end up in a school in Cali, since that's his home state. But he'd be a nice pick up

Good offensive player, and excels on the defensive end. He unfortunately got hurt late in the season and missed the Summit League tournament. He would make the Gophers a better team.

Now the season all depends on chemistry, injuries, and coaching. Biochemistry can be tough.
