We won the big ten regular season title because we beat up on everyone in the big ten, not just the bad teams. We had a winning record against every team in our conference and won by far the best conference in college hockey by 19 points.. That dominance says more to me than losing a single elimination conference tournament game by one goal.
If that means more to you than winning a championship game, then more power to you. I would've traded a regular season championship to see our boys beat Michigan at home in the conference tournament championship. I understand I may be in the minority here, and that's okay.

Personally, I view our team as one of the elite programs in the country, and while you're absolutely right to say we played a great regular season, I don't think our goal or standard should be to win a regular season conference championship. We should be better than that. If anything, our dominance in the regular season made the championship losses all the more frustrating.

I've already admitted on this thread that I am bitter about the loss, and for me a good regular season doesn't take that bitter taste out of my mouth. I refuse to accept a consolation prize as a sign of a successful season.

My exchange rate is about
1 national championship
=
10 regular season banners
=
15 conference tournaments

I would say mine is similar, but I would switch around regular season (15) and conference tournaments (10). You can win a regular season championship by punching down or beating teams dealing with injuries. To win the tournament you gotta beat the best on that night, and that's why I place more value on it.

To be frank, I could give a shit less about any conference title at this point. This program needs a natty.

Actually after what happened Saturday I'm updating it to
1 national championship
=
20 regular season banners
=
25 conference tournaments

I think a season can be viewed both as successful and disappointing. This season was highly successful, we were the best team in the country for most of it. We dominated the big ten and dominated 3 NCAA tournament games. Losing the big one is disappointing, however.

Agree with this. Winning a conference title and reaching the national championship game is a very strong season for any school. Losing the championship once we got there because of self-inflicted wounds is crushing.
