We learned this pre-season that Hageman is an animal. He's the strongest and fastest player on the "D" line. Why isn't he playing? I assume a function of his learning a new position. Has anyone heard anything specifically?

Yes, and yes. RS Freshman moving from TE to DE to interior lineman. That's a lot to take on.

Yet Garin plays considerably more?
A lot to take on? Just go out and try to get the QB or RB in the backfield. What more is there to learn?
Brewster's policy on position changes is apparently to take a player's initial Scout/Rivals star average, and then make him move to that number of positions during his career. Poor Marquis Gray hasn't even come close to finding his position. Who knows what this football visionary has in store for young Rasheed.
No technique to learn, no leverage to learn, no assignments to learn, it's really easy. Just look at all the R-Fr All-Americans playing on the DL.

The handling of Hageman reminds me of Mason's handling of Daniels. Move him around enough so he never gets a chance to play even if he is one of the most talented players on the team. Hageman might be one of those players that needs to transfer to a top 25 team where he will be placed at his natural position and allowed to just play.
At his current size what would his natural position be? Just curious.
With Hageman switching to DT he is behind two of the defenses better and more experienced players. It isn't that surprising that he isn't getting much playing time. I don't know about the quality of Ed Olson's play. He may be doing well or he may not be, the point is he has alot of experience around him.

I'm fine with him playing in the DL it is clearly an area of need for the current squad, but for a team that is trying to commit to the run what would be wrong with a 300 lb TE that by all accounts can still move very well. Not saying he shouldn't be a D-lineman just throwing it out there.
Quiet badgergopher. What are you going to say next, that Bobby Bell was recruited to play Quarterback?
