NCAA Tournament 2022-23

Couldn't even stand to watch the game. I accidentally taped the annoying Diana/Sue-talk-over-it version and, by the time I watched, it was too late to get the regular version.

Oh Clark definitely dishes it out and has to be able to take it, but to be fair I’ve never seen her follow an opponent around and try to get a reaction
Clark wasn't bothered by Reese's taunt.

"I was just trying to get to the handshake line and shake hands and be grateful that my team was in that position," Clark said. "All the credit in the world to LSU. They were tremendous. They deserve it. They had a tremendous season. Kim Mulkey coached them so, so well. She's one of the best basketball coaches of all time, and it shows. She only said really kind things to me in the handshake line, so I'm very grateful of that too."

. . . On the other hand, I am surprised no one has mentioned the fact that this would have ended much differently if it had been a men’s game. It would have been a brawl. I was shocked at what was happening. Never seen someone chase someone around taunting relentlessly like that.
And the chasing around was after the final horn sounded. Clark has dished it out, and she had no choice but to take it, but the post-game chasing and taunting is an even lower level of classless. Drake University Gopher is right, would surely have been a brawl in a men’s game, and easily could have been a brawl in a women’s game. Thought Bluder should have cleared the bench at the last free throw, because you could see where this was going, and I’m not sure I would have bet on Clark and company not to respond, especially to any post-Horn BS.

Reese is just jealous of Clark's media success. Reese will never see a fraction of the endorsement money that Clark will get. Clark did the correct thing to not engage.
According to this, Angel has more deals than any other player.

I've got Iowa relatives, so of course they had the game on yesterday. I saw and girl with one purple pant leg shoot a free throw and thought "WTF are they wearing now?" and did my middle-aged guy, "I'm old school" rant right before I saw a coach decked out like Elton John on LSD.
I have every right to be annoyed with those that seek attention.
That's all I took from the women's NCAA tournament this year.

Not true, she already has some of the highest NIL deals in Mens or Women's game. I didn't like the taunt, but I do believe the LSU players that the trucking, and taunts were in retaliation for the things that were said about South Carolina and the media glorifying Clark's behavior as empowerment and leadership stuff. Reese dishes it but she does take crap about her self promotion and looks on social media which is uncalled for. I also believe coach Bluder from Iowa that some of her "bar" fight comments were taken out of context regarding South Carolina. Reese is a great player, more than basketball player, she has fashion and music stuff going. Guess she believes all publicity is good publicity, It's too bad this controversy has taken over what was a Good NCAA tournament and a great Women's basketball game. It finally felt like this was an event and the Women's NCAAA and Women's basketball Is gaining deserved respect. Much respect to LSU, they had a great game plan executed it to excellence and are Nnational champions.

You didn't watch much if this was your take away. There were fabulous games played from beginning to end. Both Semi final games were played at a high level of basketball. The LSU coach does outfits wildly but some of that is to raise money for charity. She Mulkey has won 4 National titles with great talent, so she must be just a little bit of a decent coach. Have seen many players wear the half pant look. Don't have a problem with it. Dudes wear the leggings, half pant, all kinds of shoe's and nobody says boo about it. As to taunts controversy, my style is more let the players play and let that play on the court speak for itself. Reese got MVP but for me the MVP of this game was Morris, she is 5-6 and her jump shots in 3rd and 4th quarter took over game. Reese had a big part in LSU run all tournament but Morris too, she took over championship game with her jump shot and defense in second half after Iowa made a come back. I would rather talk about the basketball game than side show stuff. This game is growing, and this year was a good start.

Like it or not, Caitlin Clark is the new face of women's basketball. She is the main reason for the increased popularity in women's basketball. Much more than any other player.

Fascinating as high Twitter activity continues and evolves. Overlapping different views, differing levels of background knowledge by fans, biases. Angel Reese is Tweeting or retreating like these that then are interpreted differently by different viewers:

Reese is classless uneducated trash. Shame that refs allow the sec style of bully ball to occur
Oh please, you can dislike her, or the comments, but quit it with the name calling and generalizations. Big 10 plays bully ball to. LSU had a great game plan and did to Iowa what they did to South Carolina. The game is growing and we need more "eye's" watching the game. Gopher fan's should not feel bad for Iowa, the Iowa fan's dish it at us plenty.

Not name calling it's true. She wasn't eligible for awards because of her GPA and has no sportsmanship or respect on the court

Angel Reese behavior seemed more spontaneous, although I admit this is the first time I saw her play. Clarks is cumulative. There is never a call that does not draw a look or comment. Her two push off fouls seemed not only obvious, but an extension of what she does often. Yet she was incredulous they were called. Was the T just icing on the cake? That said, I give her credit for staying home in Iowa. Kudos to her, Whalen, and other high profile players who do. Bueckers on the other hand left here, got hurt twice, and they are already talking of her incoming freshman replacement. She is a great player, but will never Beas great in Conn. as she would have been here.

Blah blah blah blah blah, all anyone wants to talk about anymore is agendas.

I'm more curious how Bluder uses the transfer portal. There has got to be a long line of girls who want to play with Clark for a year or two, if she exercises her Covid year.

Iowa with a couple athletic wings could be really dangerous.

Angel Reese is not going to school for a GPA. She is going for PPG and NIL!

You are right about that, players will go where they have a chance to win a championship and Clark will be a great recruiting person for Iowa.

The taunting incident seems to have pushed the conversation of the lousy officiating into the background. Once again, we saw that the officiating in women's basketball still isn't where it needs to be. Hard to tell if the officiating affected the outcome of the game or not. We'll never know. LSU played so well that no one could say they weren't worthy of the championship trophy.

I'm in the camp that viewed the taunting as classless, although Clark certainly isn't the bastion for good sportsmanship. (Both are terrific players.) I wonder when we'll see the day when a highly-compensated NIL player will lose their endorsement money due to their actions.

I wanted Iowa. Clark would of did the same thing she has done in a lot of games and been chirping.. LSU kicked their ass the first half and LSU had Reese and Morris on the bench with foul trouble .. LSU bench was MVP and the officiating was trash…

If they do not have any players transfer out, I don’t think they have any scholarships available. The only opening they may have is if Ava Jones is not counted.

Iowa really needs an athletic center. They got out-rebounded badly, and their two backup centers were not ready for the big stage.

To be fair, they were even more outrebounded by South Carolina. LSU just shot the ball incredibly.

Is there a medical exemption or something they can get to free up her scholarship for first year? Know school is already planning to honor it regardless of if she ever can play

I’m not sure. But I was thinking it would not count if she is unable to play. I know she is hoping to play again.

Clark chirps a lot during the game, but don’t think she has chased anybody around the floor after the game to taunt them.

Chirped while going through the handshake line is not during the game she has done that.. good maybe some humble pie will change her?? I doubt it she embraces that roll..
