All Things 2023 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Had to be done. Now Thielen and the rest.
I think the Vikings and Adam Thielen will do a restructure of his contract to save more cap room. Don't see him getting cut unless he doesn't want to be here. The other i see.

I don't think he wants to be here anymore.

Thielen will sign with the Vikings for about $5M, $6M tops

Huh yes he does. it has said he want to play for the Vikings. Go look it up. it been said on the net. I can point you to links that said this.

Don't believe anything his wife said on the net.
Those are the things you say until you know you're gone. We'll see. I predict he ends up elsewhere.

On Kendricks - I suspect Flores may have weighed in on what his system wants/needs from the LB position. If Flores said "I really want Kendricks," they would have worked something out. The fact that he is being released speaks for itself.

On Thielen: what I have read/heard suggests that Thielen's main issue is wanting to play a more active role in the offense. Let's face it, the Vikes are JJ's team and with Hockenson emerging as a key target, Thielen is really the #3 receiver on this team. the buzz is that he wouldn't mind going somewhere where he can be at least the #2. But, as always, money will play a role in it. If no other team is offering him the $$ he wants, it's possible he stays with the Vikings.

Some Free Agent QB contract numbers starting to trickle in...

David Carr - New Orleans Saints. 4 yrs - $150M ($60M guaranteed I think)

Geno Smith - Seattle. 3 yrs - $105M

Good for Geno to cash out after a pretty damn solid year last year. Love the bounceback stories like that. Carr will have probably a far better OL with the Saints than he ever had with the Raiders, and some pretty good weapons around him. Would not be surprised to see Carr and the Saints do well in that weak division.

Now if the Vikings were going to extend Cousins, there's no chance he'd do it for less than 40 million per year after those contracts.

in my best Mom voice: "So if all the other boys wanted to ride their bikes off of a bridge, I suppose you'd want to ride you bike off of a bridge, too!"

Packers should offer a fair trade, considering all that Rodgers has done for that team.

Time to move on to the next chapter.

seeing a lot more media "buzz" on twitter that Thielen might be gone. some saying there could be an announcement 'very soon.'

KJ is a clear #2. Hock #3.

As far as an actual #2/#3 receiver (depending on how you want to do it, with KJ wide or in the slot), I don't know if anyone on the roster is ready to step up or if they'll have to sign a FA?

In a perfect world, somehow Raegor would've shown something and had a breakout. But I don't think he did enough for the team to risk that with him.

So my daughter is a dental assistant and had a patient come in the other day. Old guy, pushing his walker. They wear masks at the facility and she asked the old guy if he needed one. He said he has his own and proceeded to put on a purple one with the Vikings logo. When she sees the old guy’s mask, she asks if he’s a Viking fan. He laughs and never gives her an answer. The dentist then tells my daughter it was a very cute joke asking him that. Of course it was Bud Grant and she had no clue.
Years ago she spent an entire afternoon with Rod Carew and his little nephew, my daughter’s classmate, at Twinsfest without realizing who he was until she returned home.
