I vote right now. Everyone knows he is a lame duck coach including recruits. Plus the recruits really don't excite me so losing a few won't break my heart.

It wont happen this week...Maturi is at the AD meetings till Wednesday...I think if we lose big to Northwestern...it might happen after that.

I'm actually a bit surprised the homers don't want Brewster fired right now as well. Do they really want to read 'Fire Brewster' forums on Gopherhole for the next 3 months?

What is the benefit to firing him now? We are probably even worse off with a lame duck coordinator taking the job for 2 months. We aren't going to hire someone new until after the season is over anyway (and probably after the bowl season is over).

Just fire him the day after the Iowa game.

The only benefit I see is that it jump starts the coaching search. It allows the U to put out feelers on potential coaches and start dropping public hints about who they are looking at. My only concern is that if Maturi is in charge of hiring the next coach, he will likely be as inept as Brewster.

Mike Bellotti could step in and immediately start recruiting and changing the culture.

He needs at least 2 or 3 more years to get his system established.

I'd give him at least that long.

With all of his bigger, faster, better recruits its sure to turn around. He needs to STAY!

he's lost everyone

Don't tell me he hasn't lost his team.. he has lost the fan base, the students, and obviously his team. Fire him now and have celebrity coaches the rest of the year.. Bud Grant, Betty White, Tom Kelly.. certainly couldn't do any worse.. also obvious why Cosgrove was let go from Nebraska

You're funny ;)

Can you send me some of what you are smoking because this sarcasm is not a salve for this wounded Gopher fan's ailments.

Celebrity coaches? WTF.

If they did it now I would even bring some moving boxes to the game for him, however doubt they will for quite one time.

I do not know how old Bellotti is, but if he still has some gas left in the tank, he would be a great hire.

We could do for us what Rich Brooks did for Kentucky, or more with the resources MN now has in the new stadium.

Bellotti could restore credibility to the program immediately. He could also, along with correction of the luxury suite liquor matter(TCF,Williams, Mariucci), improve the revenue situation for the athletic dept.

With Brewster hanging over the program, the revenue situation in the new stadium next year will become very dicey. As Wren used to say, "prexy B" is keenly aware of this major facet of the situation.

It's clear he needs to go, but whether or not he's fired during the season, Maturi needs to start the search and finding some possible interest now. (Under the radar feelers like he did with the Tubby hire.)

Whether Brewster is fired now or after the Iowa game, the Gophers need to be able to make a smooth transition into a new system and the right coach, without losing everything for next year's recruiting. If they fire Brewster at the end of the Iowa game but are looking for a coach for two months, it's going to be a rough year no matter who comes in.

why fire him now? Because he simply can't coach. He was blaming the refs and the kids and saying he has 11 new starters on defense (didn't Collado start the Iowa game?). He keeps using being young as an excuse. Well, this is year 4 baby. You've had 4 years to build a defense and it's getting worse, not better. You've bragged for 4 years about what great kids you're bringing in and you know what, your defense SUCKS. Fire this Mussolini strutting fool and get anyone in his place. I like the Belotti idea. We need a breath of fresh air and this fool needs to know we aren't going to stand for his incompetence one more week.

No way did you just remember that!

Kudos, my friend. ;)

Then again, how could I have forgotten his antics? Shame on me.

I sort of miss old Wren, even though we clashed over his endless defense of Dan Monson on the BB board.

People who knew him have stated that outside the board, he was a pretty OK guy. I think I actually spoke to him once outside the Embassy Suites Hotel in El Paso, but I did not want to confirm that he was indeed the legendary Wrenagade Rambler. That would have been too far past my message board boundries.

How are we worse off? Please explain.

There is no benefit to keeping him as no recruit is going to buy coming here for Tim Brewster anyways at this point. Every recruit knows he is gone so fire him now.

Fire him now. Immediately. Waiting just makes people wonder whether the dreadful state of the football program will end or will be allowed to continue. Be decisive, show the world that a horrible coach will not be tolerated. A strong statement is the best way to start trying to right the ship.

I think they will keep Brew into the start of the big ten season to see what happens. If things go south right away in the first 2 or 3 games, Brewster in my opinion will be let go or asked to resign.

How can things go south if you're already in hell?

I'm still waiting for someone to explain how we would be "worse off" if we fired Brew now. I'm not trying to get in an argument. Just want the Pro's and Con's.
