College Football Rankings First Look: (9-4) The system, the system, the system. Run the ball, play great D, own third downs, win time of possession. It’ll all continue.

Go Gophers!!

Not dinks. Hopefully we will be a bit higher. But not dinks.

Eighth in the Conference.

Anywhere from 4-10 is probably fair:

Clearly behind PSU, OSU, MI
Clearly ahead of NU, IU, Rutgers (and I’d argue Purdue post coaching change)

#34 Seemed high to me but we did seem to do very well with transfers. Another o-line veteran transfer to battle for a spot seems about it on offense? What are the concerns on defense...seems good, right?

#34 would be the teams lowest finish in a 12+ game season since 2018

I think it’s fair. Hard to put them much higher considering all the losses and coaching changes

Kaliakmanis will be our first scrambling QB since Ricky Foggy, but with a better arm than Ricky and better receivers. So PLEASE, could we have a creative set of plays to USE him?

He's not going to run a lot. I see think the wisc game shows how he will be used. The offense will open up with his mobility and pocket presence as to give receivers more time to get open. There definitely will be more down field throws.

Since Foggie?? Fleetwood, Abdul-Khaliq, Marquise Gray, Leidner to name a few could all move on their feet. And Weber and others I’m probably forgetting. Philip Nelson as well.

Having lived through the Jim Wacker era, what's not to love about that?

I wouldn't put "Mankato Jesus" in that list. Just sayin'
In 18 games Mankato Jesus averaged
9 Carries per game
30 yards per game
(This includes sacks as runs)

AK in 9 games:
3 Carries per game
13 yards per game

Max shortell in 15 games:
3 Carries per game
4 yards per game

What I’m telling you is our “scrambler” is closer to max shortell than Phil Nelson as a runner in terms of style and production. Granted in a very small sample size

We don't want a scrambler, We want a guy that can throw from the pocket but use his legs when needed. The word scrambler makes me think of someone who cant throw the football

Weber could scramble.

When I hear "scrambler" I think of a QB who scrambles to pass, like Doug Flutie.

Agree. I think there are "runners" and "scramblers". Flutie, Tarkenton, Rodgers, Wilson, Mahomes to me are scramblers. They move around to give themselves time to throw. Then there are the "running" qbs that aren't good at throwing which are more common in college than the NFL.

Yes, but next year's schedule might be the most difficult since 2015.
Next years schedule is more difficult than 2015 IMO

There were only 8 conference games then. So even with TCU
On that schedule there was still:
2-10 Purdue
3-9 Kent state
5-7 Illinois
6-7 Nebraska
7-6 Colorado state
8-5 Ohio
7-6 central Michigan (Bowl)
Even with really tough crossovers that year of 13 games the team still played 7 games against teams under .500 or from G5 conferences.

This year I think there will be fewer than 7 teams that will fit that criteria in the end

Eastern Michigan
Northwestern
Louisiana
Purdue
Nebraska (maybe)
Michigan state (maybe)
Wisconsin (maybe)
(Maybe a bowl game)
