2022-20223 College Football Head Coach Fired/Hired Thread

Not really for McMurphy, he's a Christian going to a Christian school. It'd be like a Morman going to BYU or a Catholic heading to Notre Dame, or a corrupt SOB that cheats going to North Carolina.
I'm sure religion was the biggest factor here.

If you give a mormon a raise of over 3 million to coach a catholic team, he would likely turn it down to stay with those of his religion.

The corrupt SOB part may be on to something though.

Also Sacramento State Coach Troy Taylor (all college experience). Garrett never coached at College Level. Interesting finalists if no one else is on the list.

He looked tired, like David Shaw. He'll take a year or two off and then join the staff at BYU.
I like Ken. Seems like a good coach and a good dude. The academies are a tough place to win and he's done pretty well.

IIRC, he was interviewed for BYU head coach at one point, but they refused to let him run the triple option there, and he felt that if they were putting those restrictions on him even before being hired, what other restrictions would they put on him, so he walked away.

Was Purdue completely unprepared for this day? Nothing really in the news of speculation that I have seen.

When the AD invades the locker room and fires the coach as he sits in front of his locker, immediately after losing a game, that indicates more than performance issues. It speaks of open hostility.
That happened? What a shitty way to treat a guy who by all accounts was a class act.

Odom putting together quit the staff at UNLV. Hiring Petrino at OC

Mississippi State has the brutal task of chiming in with Leach's replacement:

Mississippi State officially announced Zach Arnett as the Bulldogs' next head football coach on Thursday morning.

"I'm honored that Bracky Brett and Dr. Keenum have the faith in me to lead our program," Arnett said in a statement. "This is an extremely challenging time for both me and everyone associated with Mississippi State football. No one can ever replace Coach Leach and the impact he had on MSU and all of college football. This team is full of strong, resilient young men and we are committed to continuing to build on the foundation Coach Leach laid and continue to honor his legacy."

Go Gophers!!

Don’t know anything about Zach Arnett, but I’ll be rooting for him to succeed.

That’s probably going to be a good hire for UNLV.
