A winter storm, students on break, a game moved to Noon tip on a Thursday, a 3-11 opponent has a recipe for dozens of fans in attendance. Gophers must create our own energy and bury these guys early with an avalanche of pressure. If we get up early it will snowball and we can freeze them from the outside shooting. Once they get cold from the outside, we will pour salt on their wounds and bury them. They will have to shovel their way out of a deficit and the parents in attendance can chant "start your bus" to ensure it starts fine in the weather.

Anyone attending the game can attend the women's basketball game after for free. I encourage fans to do that. The women's basketball team is an elite recruiting class and entertaining to watch

ESPN rated Minnesota's 2022 recruiting class top 10 in the nation. They are called "The Fab Four." All are from the Twin Cities.

That includes rock star shooting guard Mara Braun of Wayzata. She twice has won Freshman of the Week honors this season. Star alert!


Another starting freshman is elite point guard Amaya Battle of elite Hopkins. She is the sister of Minnesota's own Jamison Battle.

Another starting freshman is Mallory Heyer of Chaska. She's a power forward who shoots threes and runs the floor like a guard. She won Big Ten Freshman of the Week this season too.

And then the fourth starting freshman also is an ESPN top-100 prospect. She is a redshirt freshman from Roseau Katie Borowicz.

All four starting freshmen made ESPN's top 100 prospects. And that's just the freshmen.

Sophomore Rose Micheaux is one of the leaders in the Big Ten for rebounds and shooting percentage and still only a soph.

Anyway... this is no ordinary team. So excuse my enthusiasm. Check them out if you have a free ticket.

Think I can move to midcourt seats without being hassled?
 


Looks like travel won’t be too bad for the Noon tip-off. I have daycare pickup at 3:30 so may try to attend my first game of the year. Need to see if wife wants to go.

This is totally unrelated but I HATE, when you are at an event and there are 10000 open seats and the attendant wont let you move. We used to go to the $3 student ticket $1 dollar dog twins games when we were horrendous those years in the dome. There were 2 full sections in LF of the upper deck, and 95% of the rest of the stadium was empty but there was no way they were letting you down to sit on the 3B line in row 3. At noon today vs Chi St if you arent in someones seats, who cares get everyone in bottom deck as close as possible.

They will probably let you in. The attendant doesn’t care but is always at risk of a supervisor seeing the infraction. All in the category of “if you give for free what you are trying to sell, no one will buy it.” Bizarre when unused capacity is so high. It’s a little like restaurants not giving away leftovers at the end of the night (beyond food safety concerns).

You do get replays of all games broadcast on B1G/B1G+, so there is that too
 

You can also find radio feeds online to listen to the game instead of paying for B1G+. It's not a bad way to enjoy a game.

I sit in my paid for seats at Wolves games once a season-the home opener. Every other game...the stadium is mine. At least until the other people show up.

I've done that for years, when it gets into the B1G season it doesn't work so good though.

Yeah exactly, he typically attends as many of the non-con games as possible and then watches on TV for the conference schedule.
 

Per Marcus' tweet, I would say it looks like about the same size crowds that were at the games mid pandemic....

Also why do we insist on starting Samuels, he is absolutely terrible. Start Carrington!

Saying he is terrible is a bit too far, I agree though he should definitely be in a reserve role. Ben can't really seem to find a way to get Cooper off the floor when he starts Samuels. Taurus isn't a bad 3pt shooter and he does keep the ball moving, but he's a 10 minute a game guy. He should be used to spell Cooper and not much more than that.
 

Going from an ESPN broadcast to a student broadcast for the game and no one in the stands and no one watching at home. Big day for the radio folks.

BTN already charged me for a second month even though I'm certain I subscribed without the automatic renewal. Bastards. So I guess I'm in.

Hes a career 30% 3pt shooter, per 100 possessions hes a -28. He has a negative offensive AND defensive +/-, a 16.9% turnover rate, a .355 eFG% (almost impossible to do) and has shot 42.9% from the FT line this year. I don't want to bring the kid down but its fair to say hes terrible.

I guess I was speaking in relative terms to the rest of our roster, but you're right, numbers don't lie.
