2022-20223 College Football Head Coach Fired/Hired Thread

There was a good 60 minutes piece on Sanders a little while back. Very old school coaching style. I loved watching him as a player. Normally not a big fan of the ego-centric, flamboyant athletes, but to me he was different. He was cocky, but was so good that he gets a free pass in perpetuity. I think he’ll do well at CO and bolt at the first opportunity at a higher profile place he gets.
He walked the talk. Who played an NFL and a MLB game in the same day?

If we are talking 2 sport stars, Bo Jackson was better. Too bad injuries derailed his career.

It wasn't a who's better statement. Dave Winfield (who I actually met) would be my personal choice if we were to go in that direction. What I was pointing out, is he literally played both in one day.

Deon had game...

The power of a coach that players believes in!

The only other coach to my knowledge doing national TV spots is Saban - that type of name recognition is invaluable, especially when the parents of some recruits saw him play. He has built strong recruiting relationships in FLA; I would be surprised if he doesn’t have them in a Bowl by year 2 and has made Colorado Relevant again.
I can’t see many elite Florida kids wanting to play for a PAC12 team on the other side of the country. I mean are we forgetting about Scott Frost? He had Florida recruiting ties and came to an even bigger name school in a better conference.

He ain’t Prime bro
Watch and learn

Problem is Colorado isn’t rich recruiting ground. Good news is that two of the better recruiting teams in the conference are leaving. I also would be surprised if he stuck around long.
He has a Florida pipeline. Campus and city are beautiful. He will get a good staff. If he gets the players, look out.

I have little doubt he will be able to get them to go there.

Like I said, supposedly Frost had a Florida pipeline as well. Easy to have a Florida pipeline when you are coaching in Florida. Move across the country and that pipeline doesn’t follow you.

It will for Sanders. No question.

Again, Prime might be able to get some guys on campus, but every other team has 4 or 5 star guys. These arent HBCU schools anymore. I'm saying this as someone who wore his #21 san fran jersey to school all the time. He just doesn't seem like a good X's and O's guy.

Lot easier to coach an FCS team like Jackson State if you can find a couple really good players who want to be the big fish in a small pond than it is to turn around a program like Colorado. I think his name alone will get some good recruits but it remains to see what he can do as a coach at that level - it's a big jump.

To be honest, anyone who doesn't think Deon Sanders is the best cover corner of all time isn't really a mind worth changing. I think it's pretty clear your opinion of him is entirely skewed because you didn't like him high stepping or whatever. I don't think it's possible for that opinion to come from a place of logic or analysis, it pretty clearly (to me) it comes from a place of steaming over your hatred for him.

So, I wasn't trying to change your mind, just pointing out that I disagreed with your logic.
Agreed. Of course anyone is free to love him or hate him, but anyone saying he's overrated is speaking from emotion and not a reasoned analysis. If anything, he was underrated as a player. Unless things have changed, I believe he is still the only person in history to have played in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. Think about that - there have been tens of thousands of professional athletes, any of whom could theoretically have achieved the same feat, and yet he remains a set of one.

Ours isn't either, he's going to need coordinators. It sounds like Alabama Associate DC is incoming to run the D.

Interesting introduction to your team.

And Fleck got roasted upon arrival for mentioning changing the culture...

Some people will get their undies in a bunch no matter what Deon says, so might as well just tell it like it is.

This conversation could have been had with much more dignity in mind. Piss poor approach.
I may be in the minority here, but this has disaster written all over it. There will be a parting of ways in three years. Always though Deion was a clown...just my opinion. PAC-12 isn't the SWAC, all the teams have 4 and 5 Stars. There are no gimme games.

I know Satterfield has been on a warm seat but is Cincy arguably a better job at this point?
Is Big 12 better than ACC? Also will Louisville try for Brohm at this point? Gotta think it's now or never.
