All Things 2022 Minnesota High School Football Thread

you guys should really just make your own thread to bitch back and forth at each other.

Go Irish!☘️ I'm sure a good portion of the Rosemount population will be there tonight.

Right, all the stuff I showed is clearly in their district. More than is out.
It's because not all housing is created equal. A lot of the Simley district is "old Inver Grove" and there are fewer school aged kids. The large new developments are disproportionately in the Rosemount-Eagan-AV school district.

Maple Grove with 21 quick points in the second on some big plays and Rosemount turnovers. Rosemount scored right before halftime to make it 21-10.

Lot of game left but Maple Grove is without a doubt the best team Rosemount has faced this season.

Rosemount not only got their ass kicked, they should be completely embarrassed by certain of their players. Never seen a more classless team.

Maple Grove ended that classy, but Rosemount did not deserve the mercy.

I can't believe they have to listen to Dave Lee call the game and they are getting upset with each other about what class a school should be in.
We aren’t. He is debating about maps he doesn’t know how to read

Prep Bowl 2022

FRIDAY'S GAMES

1A
Minneota (12-2) - 38
Springfield (11-3) - 21

Minneota won the line of scrimmage. Springfield hit some passes but couldn't sustain enough drives. Minneota with 4 QB sacks.

2A
Barnesville (13-0) - 35
Chatfield (12-1) - 20

Barnesville showed a mix of power and creativity. Chatfield threw 4 INT's. Felt old when I found out that I know the Grandfather of the TE who caught 3 TD passes for Barnesville.

4A
Simley (12-1) - 34
Hutchinson (11-2) - 24

Simley with good balance on offense. Hutch ran for over 300 yards but turned the ball over 3 times.

6A
Maple Grove (13-0) - 27
Rosemount (12-1) - 10

Maple Grove made more big plays. Rosemount lost two big fumbles in 1st half. end of game got wacky with multiple penalties including personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct.

SATURDAY'S GAMES

Nine-Man
Mountain Iron-Buhl (12-0) vs. Spring Grove (13-0), 10 a.m.

3A
Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (12-0) vs. New London-Spicer (10-2), 1 p.m.

5A
Elk River (12-0) vs. Mankato West (12-0), 4 p.m.

After watching the MG - Rose. game, I am not sure the B1G should look at Mn. football officials for replacements. If that crew is best we have to offer, the State athletic association is big trouble. Really sad, they allowed the game to get out of control. After seeing a pass bounce up to a receiver, and officials ruling completion, is it any wonder the Irish were upset.

MG was the better team and deserved the win. But you are 100% correct that the refs were horrible and blew some big calls.

Why was there no instant replay? Lots of reviews in semi-finals. None in 6AFinals. 2 big calls that should have been looked at for sure.

Maple Grove was the better team, but calls that went there way helped make game get out of hand.

Not surprised by actions of Rosemount plsyers. Have seen that behavior at all level and all sports in area. Too many kids get to play because they grew up in area or are connected. No accountability to team or their actions if you are one if these kids. Not a Rosemount thing, happens everywhere. Just have seen it a lot and coaches never hold these kids accountable. Erdman typically is the exception to the rule. He typically runs a tight ship.

Rosemount should be embarrassed. Bad reflection on their community and HS football.

Oh give me a break. Couple unsportasmanlike calls at the end of a game is not something the city or the team should be ashamed of. You hate to see it happen but games get a little chippy all the time in football.

In regards to replays. As I understood it they could only review scoring plays or plays that involved a change of possession by downs or turnover. Unfortunately the badly botched calls by this officiating crew didn't happen during those situations.

Definitely don't blame the loss on the refs, can't turn the ball over against good teams and expect to win. But this crew did not do a great job and missed some major calls. Unfortunately Rosemount ended up being on the wrong end of most of their major miscues.

There should be no instant replay. The rules of the game should be consistent from the quarterfinals to the finals IMO.

Definitely a significant drop off in sportsmanship as the day went on. That #4 for Hutch seemed to light a fire under Simley when he pushed that guys head into the ground after the play was over.

My daughter is a Senior at Rosemount. She thought it was embarrassing. Bills should have been tossed, block a kick, hit the kicker, egg on the crowd and then make that gesture that I won’t describe. All while getting beat. It was pathetic
It was embarrassing to watch. I understand it's hard to take when you haven't lost all season but that? I feel the coaches are partly to blame. These are still kids that should be led to handle things better. They preach the Irish Way in all sports at Rosemount. That was not the Irish Way to say the least.

Tomorrow Night?

Hey, I'm looking forward to the Class A game at 10:00am. Minneota plays a physical, power-running style while Springfield is wide open. a fun contrast in styles.

in the 1:00pm game, Chatfield has a QB who is a track star and is (I believe) in 2nd place in all-time MN career rushing yardage.

the lower classes may not get the buzz or the media attention that 5A and 6A receive, but they are often very entertaining games.

(I'm a small-town guy. My home town won the 9-man title in 2008 and it was one of the biggest things that town has ever seen.)
Means alot more in small towns. Also, the larger classes have about a 1/3rd of the teams as the lower ones. In 6A, I'm happy for ya, but you are first out of 32. Move down to AA and you are first out of like 64.

This is the same in every sport. Go to the bigger schools, they will have more trophies up, it is because flat out their odds are better, much better.

There may be more teams but the level of competition isn't even close. The best 6A team would easily handle a 2A all star squad.

If you call a high school kid out by name. You should state your full name and not hide behind a screen name.

I really enjoy reading the discussions about football found here. There were some great games yesterday. It was fun to watch and I looked forward to coming on here and reading about it.

Maple Grove is a great team with phenomenal athletes AND they are incredibly well coached. Rosemount had a great season. Out performed expectations with kids who obviously hate to lose.

In my opinion, you can call out adults. Lombardi and staff out-coached Erdmann and staff. Lombardi had his kids ready to play. Erdmann did not. Why did Erdmann panic and put in the other QB? How did he not have his secondary ready to stay behind MG #12???

You can talk about referees and the MSHSL and the announcers. The review process is hard to understand if you are not going to open it up to other rulings that are game-changing. Also, the media timeouts are too long in my opinion.

The refs did let the game get out of control and that is a process not just one or two plays. It is a process that needs to be found in training and more need to get involved and help change it. BUT DO NOT call out a kid and if you do POST YOUR FULL NAME if you are an adult.

Remember that these are kids.
