All Things Minnesota Timberwolves 2022-2023 In-Season Thread

Fun second half, JMac caught fire in the 3rd, Edwards in the 4th and Rudy hit clutch FTs to seal the win.

4 in a row!

Howl Wolves!!

"Karl-Anthony Towns had 25 points and Anthony Edwards scored 10 of his 22 in the third quarter as the Minnesota Timberwolves outlasted the shorthanded Miami Heat for a 105-101 victory Monday night.

Down to eight players due to injuries and rest on the second night of a back-to-back, Miami led by 15 in the first half before Edwards sparked a third-quarter run and Minnesota finally started to knock down 3-pointers to erase the deficit.

Jaden McDaniels added 18 points for the Timberwolves and Jordan McLaughlinhit a career-high four 3s, three in the third period, as Minnesota won its fourth straight game..

McDaniels and McLaughlin hit 3s on the next two possessions to cap a 21-4 run as the Wolves took the lead. McLaughlin added two more 3s and Minnesota was 7 of 11 from beyond the arc in the quarter.

Tied 99-all with 3:31 to play following Adebayo's jumper, the Wolves held on thanks to Rudy Gobert finishing at the free throw line. Gobert went without a shot from the floor in the game but sank 4 of 4 from the line in the final seconds.."

Peterson seems to have a point. Embid had 20 Free Throws. The entire Wolves team had 24.

Neither Towns or Gobert had one.
The last couple minutes of that game was the Wolves letting that bother them too much.

I think ya gotta accept mentally, otherwise it hurts you twice.

Still one of the worst calls I’ve seen in a long time. It wasn’t even close.

That highlight reinforces what my son said to me last night while watching the game...Ant hasn't had really a single highlight this season at or around the rim...or if he has, it's few and far between. He hit some big shots last night, but most are step backs...what makes him so impactful is his versatility and athleticism and I hope he doesn't lose his mentality of attacking the rim.

Howl Wolves!!

It's crazy...feels like the wolves have been horrible all season but had they won one game they lost they'd be in like the 4-5 range in the west.

They are moving the ball much better than a couple of weeks ago. Also, they are very lucky to be playing teams that are missing key players. I think that comes to an end tomorrow night against Indy.

DLo will never stop driving me nuts.

He had a nice dunk last night, if you ignore the three steps

That's good news as it looks we are a .500 team. If that gets us out of the lottery, less of a hit with the draft pick going to Utah.

thats why ive always preferred college ball. I'm optimistic that type of travel would get called in the playoffs though.

Still watch college ball. Use to prefer it myself until one and done became the norm. Then the growing pains that may affect an NBA team on occasion, affect every decent College team on a yearly basis. Most don't seem to have any idea on how to play together until their conference season rolls around.

That and shooting. A few NBA teams, like the Wolves, may have shooting woes on a regular basis. Seemingly only a handful of College teams can shoot at all.

I turned on the gophers/cal baptist game after the wolves game last night. A wolves game that wasn't particularly well played.

Super painful. (I've been a gophers fan for much longer than I've been a wolves fan and I love the U.)

What a game tonight!! One of the most complete games of the year, led all game, even when they made a run we responded.

Great spacing, ball movement, heck even Garza got in!

5 in a row, the Wolves that played tonight can make a run.

Howl Wolves!!

The pace was pretty incredible. Stopped the Pacers' 5 game winning streak too.

"The Timberwolves won their previous four games entering Wednesday despite not playing their best basketball on a consistent basis.

That wasn't the case Wednesday. The Wolves won their fifth straight game 115-101 over an Indiana team that has had a strong start thanks to one of their best performances of the season.

The Wolves answered every Indiana run, and when they might have given away the lead in other circumstances this season, they answered each surge with one of their own. There were strong performances up and down the starting lineup.

D'Angelo Russell had 15 points and 11 assists while pitching in three steals on the defensive end. Jaden McDaniels helped limit Indiana guard Tyrese Haliburton to just 4-for-15 and 10 points while scoring 18 of his own. Rudy Gobert was active on offense all night with 21 and grabbed 16 rebounds. Karl-Anthony Towns had a big third quarter on his way to 23 points while Anthony Edwards had 19.."

Wish I decided to watch this game instead of the Gophers.

This team just needs competent play by DLo and they are a pretty good team.

I only saw about half of the game. The play in the fourth where Ant gave up his shot and instead lobbed the ball in deep to Rudy by the rim (it wasn't quite an alley oop) was a pass he would not have made two weeks ago. I hope and think that play says a lot about how the team is evolving.

Probably their best win of the season. Very encouraging.

They needed time to figure things out. You guys were overreacting.

Witb that said, DLO still sucks.

Ah, NO

They beat a few very depleted teams and those games were extremely tight.

Nothing has changed. Brutal loss today. All the same problems.

They lost to Charlotte by 2. Russell, Gobert(on a bad ankle) & Edwards played well. The team's 3pt shooting, aside from Russell was awful. Towns, McDaniels and the entire bench were brutal. They really miss Jordan McLaughlin.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- — Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 28 points, and the Charlotte Hornets stopped Minnesota's five-game win streak with a 110-108 victory over Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves on Friday night.

Terry Rozier had 22 points and eight assists, helping the Hornets (6-14) win back-to-back games for the first time this season. P.J. Washington scored 16 points, and reserve Theo Maledon finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Edwards scored 25 points for the Timberwolves (10-9), who shot 22% from 3-point range. D’Angelo Russell had 20 points and 10 assists, and Rudy Gobertfinished with 17 points and 17 rebounds..

The Wolves are back to being pathetic.
Our backcourt has zero interest in defense. NONE, ZERO, ZIP!

It's the worst defensive backcourt in the league. They blow by them like they are potted plants.

I watched a little of the first quarter and went all NFL after that. Golden State scored 20 points in a 3 minute stretch. It was stunning to see it. Their first play was a lob dunk to Wiggins over Gobert. Then Draymond was beating us back and dunking. Good gawd, it's horrific.

Souhan: Timberwolves' lack of on-court leadership is showing

The closest thing the Wolves have to an on-court leader is veteran wing Taurean Prince, a key bench player who, not coincidentally, played in all five games of the Wolves' winning streak and has been out with an injury during their two-game losing streak.

Similarly, second-string point guard Jordan McLaughlin's passing and energetic defending has been missed as he has been injured the last two games.

Patience with this team is warranted.

Patience with this team's lackadaisical approach is not.

There is no excuse for a bunch of highly paid athletes on a team with enormous expectations playing without intelligence or energy.

Howl Wolves!!

Had two TVs set-up to watch the Wolves and the Gophers play. Neither team can f-ing shoot. The Wolves are incredibly careless with the ball and the Gophers can't rebound.

Turning both games off.

Just hope it's a good NFL game. Really need to have something to take my mind off things.

blow the f-----g thing completely up.

And wake me when JR Rider JR ever cares. This guy can't rotate or play any defense whatsoever.

Blow it up completely!

Also, to Iceland........we've been watching shit gopher and wolves basketball for decades. It's just unreal. Someday! Someday!

I’m sorry but this is just funny.
77 points in the half. And we have the defensive player of the decade in the middle. It just tells you how pathetic things are with the slow footed others.

I'm starting to think Finch has to go. I like the guy, but for the love of something.

If they call Utah and offer them Rudy back in exchange for half of the picks back, the Jazz would laugh themselves silly before hanging up the phone.
