***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS CALIFORNIA BAPTIST SO CAL CHALLENGE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Battle and Garcia need to learn how to play in the offense together. That last play felt like the first time they both touched the ball on a possession. Feels like they both don’t know how to operate unless the offense is being drawn up for them, and so they’re taking turns with who’s gonna be a part of the game.

They’ll learn. Good to see us fight through adversity (even if it was self-created) and find a way to win. Lots to learn.

You have to wonder why we weren’t going down low a lot more the last 5 minutes or so.

We’ll take the win no matter how ugly it is.

Too easy. Don't want to give it to the guy that is almost unstoppable inside. He's just a freshman. Give it to the veteran who shot 4-15. More of a challenge.

I could make jokes, but I'll lead with the positives (only watched OT, literally haven't watched any game this year)

Garcia has a smooth game, doesn't get rattled on offense at all
Payne is a BALLER our best player
Carington has a nice build and should take a leap next year
Jamison is steady and can play both ends

Negatives
-Who is our point guard? Have literally never heard of him?
-Garcia is a terrible defender
-Cal Baptist, really?!

Ugly but I’ll take it. We seriously need to improve our FT shooting. I’d go as far as making kids stay in the gym until they hit a certain percentage (80%) before they hit the showers after practice.

Jamison was mostly terrible tonight probably because he played far, far too many minutes but also because he didn't look for his teammates. Our point guard is fine. He's not a star but does what an old school point guard is supposed to do.

No Tiktok until you make 8/10.

Ta'Lon Cooper is a Jr transfer out of Morehead St. Fairly well regarded.
Garcia needs some work on D.
Cal Baptist just beat Washington by 9 last week.

This was a really weird game I thought. Played really good defensively, Payne is a stud, Battle back. And yet we had to go to OT. Our FT shooting is abysmal, they should all be shooting 500 of those a day. Battle shot it awfully which is too be expected game 1. Garcia did not play good. Cooper had 10-7-7 but I didn't feel like he was a net positive. It will also be interesting to see if we use our bench this year when it counts. Ben went back to his iron 5 the 2nd half and buried Henley joj tt to the bench.

We won and I will sat CBU was decent but after the start you need to bury that team

This was PP's nite and something to build on. He was an absolute force on the D board. BJ has to insist that they get the ball to him down low at least 10-12 times a game. Then force teams to double and then teach PP how to pass it out to the open man. With all that size where is the high/low?

The last bucket by Garcia could have been a reach in foul. Sure glad they let it go.

We should convince Armstrong to come back to MN with us. Kid has talent and only a Sophomore. Battle struggled but not shocked given the lack of conditioning that leading up to this one. Give him a few games and he should be back to form.

Write the check, make it happen.
That kid is a STUD.

Ben played his win the game line up not his building for the future line up.
