Post Game Thread: Gophers Suffer Disappointing Homecoming Loss to Purdue

Offense and Special teams lost us this game. Missed FG, would be TD pass hits the reciever's hands and then gets intercepted.

Not having Mo hurt. How did Potts and Bryce look so good last year and look so bad today?

D did everything they could to keep us in the game.

When is the last time all of us, Iowa and Wisconsin lost at the same time?

Games like this show that depth really matters.

Recruiting has improved under Fleck but programs like Minnesota simply cannot recruit enough depth to play without your top RB & WR.

I don’t even know where to start…
How about last week with giving Mo his 23rd carry in blowout game and then not having him in the big ten opener.
How about pulling a move from the Bowling Green and going for it in your own territory to give a struggling offense 3 points.
How about running the clock down to 5 seconds and running the ball up the middle once we tied the game up.

These things never change - over use of players, idiotic 4th down decision making, and an odd worship of time of possession.

The Curse of Homecoming Strikes Again! Uggh!!!

Illinois, which plays its identity to a t, beat Wisconsin 34-10 today. Could be a rough game coming up … PJ’s making another risky, counter-intuitive 4th down call in the Gophers’ territory EARLY IN THE GAME is really weird. Gifted Purdue 3 points and might have changed the complexion of the game.

Felt unfocused. Too much time appeasing the media, so we let up on the momentum?

Can't fault Purdue's talent, but we let them beat us. It's not just PJ & Kirk's fault.

The national attention was fun. But now I look forward to everyone ignoring us until we win 4 in a row again (if we can).

Coaching lost us the game today. The Defense killed any momentum Purdue had. Tied game, we enter conservative mode. Purdue eventually got a break or two on offense. Oh, we're behind now, oh we're running out of time? Fine, we'll pass against 8 DBs! GAME OVER.

This has nothing to do with depth. They won plenty with backups last season. This is 100% on PJ and Cairocca for a pathetic bullshit conservative gameplan. And not enough guts to bench players who were horrible like Carroll.
It’s on Tricket and MBS too. Players need to make the routine plays.

How do you get your NIL donations returned?

A lot of guys need to re-earn their starting jobs during the bye week.

I know this isn't the end of the season, but "woe is me" and "here we go again" is not a choice that fans choose to feel. There is a reason for it.

No, coach Fleck, I cannot just let go of the past. I'm sick and fucking tired of every fucking year and every fucking Minnesota team giving us the same fucking results. I get the 2019 team/season and I love it, but was it just lightning in a bottle?

Change your best, coach. I've used your slogans and your style in my work place and I love all of it. But, it's 2:30 in the morning where I live and I stayed up for this year's version of Bowling Green. I don't see another victory on the schedule with as shitty as this game was managed. Maybe I can blame this on sanferd.

Hey, maybe 8 wins is an actual yearly goal and kick the hell out of the 5th place team in Conference USA. Anything more is icing on the cake.

I'm just drunk, old, and pissed off. No reason for anyone to reply. It's not that important.

It’s on Tricket and MBS too. Players need to make the routine plays.

Sure they do. But that wasn't the worst issue. Purdue came out ready to stop the run, just like Michigan St did last week. We came out throwing last week. This week we tried to run outside with two second rate RBs. We got cute and should have stuck with what we did last week.

Then there was the 4th and 1. I actually don't hate going for it if you leave your normal offense in there. Bring in your wildcat QB, everyone knows it's a run. Stupid. Cost them 3 pts.

If Mo was healthy enough to practice, he's healthy enough to play. The combination of today's gameplan and benching him to 'save him' screamed Bowling Green and Illinois last season. They thought they were good enough to scale things back and roll with backups to win today. Pathetic. Wrong. And as a long suffering Minnesota sports fan begging for some team to step up, thinking this team was it, infuriating. Fucking pathetic.

Missed the first 3 series of the game because of Sling TV.

Amazing the run game can be that bad without Mo. O line got bitch slapped. MBS drop in the end zone was the play of the game.

Terrible coaching by Fleck to go for it on own 29, you were getting stuffed to that point, read the game. Gave them 3 points.

Miss 28 yard field goal, terrible.

It’s a 13-7 game at half without those mistakes. Then 20-7 with the first TD of the 2nd half.

Gotta get right with the bye week. Gotta learn to play without Mo for crying out loud, ridiculous.

Seems as if nothing brings out Minnesota sports fan's feelings than after their team loses.

Bet the "I TOLD you so!" will run long and deep.

I was a pile of nerves for 3+ hours and now I’m just angry. Severely disappointed in this coaching staff, and severely dissapointed in the offensive players. Like almost all of them.

Next game will define our trajectory. Do we make a play for the west or do we fizzle out? Rose Bowl is gone pending a shocker in Indy.

Always try to stay skeptical with Minnesota sports. Started to believe… Lucy pulled the football again. Unfortunately I will never learn.
All Minnesota sports are Lucy with the football and will forever be.

We gifted Purdue 13 points by missing a 28-yard FG, dropping an easy TD, and stupidly going for it on our own 28 when the prior running play had been stuffed. Yet somehow we were tied in the 4th quarter. Our defense could only do so much. Just brutal offense all around today.
