Official 2023 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Rumors

If Manny Covey really is visiting here this weekend, Cincy can't be too happy that a "hard commit" to them from June 4 is still taking OVs??
I don’t know if the strong arm method is going to be effective now with the free transfers. Might be better off encouraging the kid to take his visits and make sure he is solid.

Not sure exactly how they determine who goes in which section but I see that Anthony Brown is now back in our top targets list. After the decommit he slide down to the high choice category. Feels like we have a decent shot of seeing him back in the fold here at some point.

It could have been as simple as seeing that post he made on his Twitter account of being up here, then maybe a 247 staffer calls him (or whomever is handling him) and asks if the Gophers are back in consideration?

Maybe not even bothering to do the second bit.

That list is maintained by the 247 guys based on their gestalt view of the recruit's standing.

Guessing we scoop Williams and Manning this weekend, maybe Hayes or Brown if Fleck wants them.

The offer lists to the 2 committed backs are pretty impressive!

Williams - Arizona State, Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Iowa, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia

Taylor - Boston College, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, wisconsin

Guess it's a perk to running a million times a game 😂 Should hopefully continue to improve once PJ gets a RB or two drafted (fingers crossed for Mo)

What’s left in the 2023 class:
1. IOL
2-3 WR. Coach Fleck usually gets these first. Both Taylor and Williams have slot ability and Walsh can line up outside. D Hayes just committed. He is similar in game and rating as Ryan Manning and the Gophers will probably take only 1 more or 2 if it is the right one.
4. DT
5. DE
6. DB

i think they want those 6 positions filled for sure. Obviously, if for instance, A. Williams and Howard wanted to commit, the Gophers would take them. A 22 recruit class seems about right with a few spots for transfers.

my hope: Howard, Anthony Brown, T. Cooley, Marjavious Moss, Phillip Daniel, T Gadson, A. Williams
my best guess: Howard, T. Brown and one other WR, E Davis, Daniel

Sorry if this was already reported, but I see the following from last night:

BREAKING: 2023 Pennsylvania running back Marquese Williams commits to Minnesota

I don’t think Walsh stays at WR. I would think they would take 2 more wrs this class.

Another Brown or two and a few more Williiam's signees along with Howard and we will have this year's recruiting almost done. A+ Go Gophers

Howard, moss, Williams, brown, and Davis and I'd be so fucking estatic....
Completely agree. I think Howard is 50/50. Reading about Moss I think it is 60/40. Williams, no clue, as he has only gone to Neb. And MN. Have heard nothing else on him. A Brown got a crystal bowl to Kentucky, but I think there is a chance. Davis seems 50/50.
I think they want 1 more CB(Fleming is also an option), 1 more DT and probably 1 more WR. I was a little surprised that they accepted the South Carolina wr commit. However, I do not question Coach Fleck wit receivers

Call me a homer... But I think it's 70/30 gophers with a big lean for Howard. I may be let down.. but fleck has really spent time building a relationship with that hometown family like it hasn't been done round here.... It shows in the Howard's tweets.. I really think he loves everything MN has to offer. The whole states top 10 recruits are friends... This class has the potential to be just amazing.. Howard will be the first domino of that group in a couple weeks..

Bolded: this ( https://247sports.com/Article/Kentucky-football-recruiting-188885311/ ) would indeed seem to confirm he took his Kentucky OV this past weekend, not on June 3rd as his (free) 247 page indicates in the timeline.

Nothing on his (AB's) Twitter page showing pictures in a Kentucky uniform, like from the Cincy visit the weekend before.

The crystal ball you speak of is from 247's Kentucky home, who only has 74% accuracy all-time and is 5 out of 8 accuracy for the 2023 class so far. Not too worried about that one?

Carter Coughlin needs to talk to Jaxon Howard more.

Tyler Johnson - Anthony Brown = Tyler Brown.

How couldn’t you be with that haul! I like Gadson over Davis simply because of the offer list (Georgia and a bunch of other SEC offers) and he’s got a bigger frame. But otherwise amazing for sure!

For example, this guy is all about it:
