All Things 2022 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Goal is to go 3-6 thru the next nine games against Toronto, ny, and tampa. And hope chicago and cleveland play under .500 as well.

By that reasoning, the '87 Twins, '06 Cardinals, and '21 Braves were frauds who should forfeit their World Series titles. It's really quite simple-win the division or stay home. There's no wild card berths for the AL Central this year, but getting into a short series with Gray, Ryan, and Smeltzer/Winder/Ober as your starters, and (hopefully) a healthy lineup is the aim.

Perhaps your time will be better spent on the NBA trade machine seeing what winning combination of players we can trade Anthony Edwards for.

Good post 👍

Are we still complaining about the lineup yesterday? I posted the splits against LHP yesterday, and the lineup made quite a bit of sense.

Skubal is a top 10 SP in the majors currently and the Twins are one of the only teams who have gotten to him the last time they faced him. Correa who was unavailable had 3 hits and 3 RBI in that game. Celestino who was also unavailable had 2 hits. Urshela had 3 hits and Larnach had 2 against Skubal last time and they both played yesterday. That was most of their offense in that game.

Arraez was 0-5 and Kepler was 0-4 the last time Skubal started against the Twins. Buxton didn't play either time.

Yeah - Skeeball has elite Stuff - hope his teammates call him that.

we had the 4th best ERA in the AL, behind Houston, Yanks & Rays - we’ve been third through most of the season, and the Rays passed us recently. Our ERA is 3.48 and Detroit is fifth at 3.55

to be clear - the 4 players listed are the ones currently on the active roster. It has been widely speculated that there were other un-vaxxed players, but some of those are out right now with covid or other injuries.

FWIW - Pagan at least posted a lengthy 'explanation' which comes down to "I had to make the best decision for myself and my family."

Kepler posted a very odd statement about how "it's unfortunate that I cannot be with my teammates."

bottom line is that the Toronto series is going to be ugly. Twins need Correa, Gray, Ryan et al back as soon as possible.

and then there is the Jim Kaat story.

if you missed it, Kaat - the 80+ year old former Twins pitcher who will be inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame this year - is catching a lot of flak for a comment he made while doing color for the Twins' TV broadcast.

while praising Yankee pitcher Nestor Cortez, Kaat called him "Nestor the Molester," because Kaat said he 'molests' hitters.

again - the guy is over 80. in his day, to 'molest' someone had a different connotation.

FWIW - Cortez said he was not offended. "Everyone makes mistakes."

and, to show you how my mind works, it reminded me that Hustler magazine used to have a regular cartoon called "Chester the Molester." I don't think that would fly today, even in Hustler.

I cringed when I heard it. I don't think he should be kicked out of the booth or anything but probably not appropriate in 2022.

He called him Nestor the Moletster......because he molests hitters.

That was it?

Good grief.......why am I not surprised.
