Baylor Schieierman enters the transfer portal

Nebraska? Mississippi St? Wake Forest?

I know he's from Nebraska but still.
Dawson Garcia returned home so I suppose Nebraska is an attractive option. I am most surprised that he has already had 8 in-home visits already through mid day today! 6 yesterday and 2 this morning?!!

I'm putting my money on Kansas. Then Creighton, Nebraska, or Kentucky I'm guessing.

Committing today at 9a.m. Two crystal balls to Creighton, could impact if Kerwin Walton joins him or not at Creighton. Down to Clemson, Duke, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Creighton. My money is on Creighton or Nebraska

As a local hero in Nebraska that makes sense and he would get paid for real NIL and not just pay for play.

or yah know....just get talented kids and coach them up to help with things they could use improvement on. the "well hes really good but we could do better" is my favorite. We just went 4-16 in conference with likely the least talented roster 3 through 13 we maybe have ever had. And the reply is "well hes good on offense but he isnt kawhi leonard so lets pass" is quite the take. there are what 350 D1 mens basketball teams, I would guess 320 of them would be elated to have Baylor/Dawson/Jamison as their 2-3-4
I think you may be overrating Dawson and Jamison.

I'm just in disbelief that we aren't more attractive than Creighton....B10....playing time....chance for a really good team...girlfriend in the state....and we can't even get in his top 10?

Creighton is a top 4/5 team with him. Can't blame him for going there. They won the BE in 2020, #5 seed in 2021, and made the S16, and made the R32 last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they won the BE this year and got a 1 seed.

Cheating was always a thing with their coach, so he has a head start on the infrastructure it takes to pay the players.

When they could sign NIL deals. Technically, I believe their agents can only represent them in negotiating things with NIL. That, in theory, is a good idea. I think a lot of young people could get taken advantage of during these kinds of negotiations if they weren't allowed to have representation, but obviously it opens up a scary door.
Just another way that "NIL is the right thing to do, and it will be limited to this, this, and this, as proper" is just so laughably a joke, and was thrown out the window immediately.

Sure, ostensibly these NIL agents are merely communicating with various schools' NIL collectives to seek out the best deals for their client, wherever they should decide to go when factoring in things like school programs and looking at teams on their own.

Uh huh.

Not at all acting as a defacto pro agent for the player, to get the best overall landing spot for them including the sport aspects. Uh huh

Good for him then. I wish we had something in place.

I think most people who think NIL is right just think people should be able to get paid money other people want to pay them. It's proper whenever.

As to your last point, you seem to be making the argument it is really good for the players. These agents are also aiming to get the players the best landing spots for them athletically? Wow. Sounds pretty good for the players.

Creighton has an excellent team and program. Great atmosphere with attendance routinely in the top 10. NIL. Excellent school. Close to home. And this might come as a shock to many, but Omaha has a fun downtown, but without the car jackings, and the school is located in the heart of it. I have no connection to Creighton whatsoever but I think I'd make the same decision if I were in his shoes.

This is so dumb. Yes, Omaha is a fun town. However, my kid goes to The U and feels safe walking around campus. She has friends at apartments and dorms in Dinkytown, Stadium Village, etc and loves it. We have a family friend who’s kid is at Creighton and loves the school but doesn’t feel safe leaving campus.

My two daughters have had a much different experience than the one you describe above.

You probably wouldn't have the answer but I'm kinda curious about this. There are parts of Omaha that aren't great, but they aren't the downtown area. Not that a city's carjackings are high on a recruit's list of concerns obviously...

Of course it is good for the players, on paper, to have an agent negotiating in their best interest, in all aspects, with all schools interested.

I'm saying that, the rules never allowed any such thing in NCAA, and NIL was only supposed to be a very limited relaxation in a narrow few aspects of those rules.

And no one is even close to following that. They're just ignoring the intention of the rules and doing whatever the hell they want.

If you're wanting to argue that the rules should allowed players to have agents from the git go, that is fine. Although you did say it opens up a scary door, so you must see some potential issues with this and possibly players getting taken advantage of.

Creighton is a very nice campus and school overall. I was blown away when I visited a friend there. The contrast of going from certain areas of Omaha and then this beautiful campus is quite alarming. They have "quiet" bag man who have loads of money but want to remain anonymous

Fans often like to point to/infer cheating when players sign elsewhere. Seems anymore like it can be said about many programs.

I don't know - I think it's just parts of town, like any city.

That's too bad. Talking with my daughter, and her friends, they all feel good and are out and about all of the campus and surrounding area all the time. Of course, she didn't go into it with a slant to be afraid of the city which some do, is smart about being in the city, etc.
