Gopher Watch: The 2022 NFL Draft!

Dan will have a long career in the NFL. He goes early Saturday to a very fortunate team.

Surprised he didn't get taken today but agree he should be off the board quickly on Saturday.

This is a deep draft for other positions in this Covid exemption cluttered draft. With an extra year in college, his stock would have risen.

We hope he goes to a team that is a good fit.

Congrats to Boye. He was so fun to watch in 2021. The dline had a slow start but then beginning with the Purdue game he and Otomewo were dominant.

Best player left on the board according to CBSsports.com! I would expect the Texans will grab him with the second pick Saturday. Possibly could join Mafe in Seattle.

Faalele is not an ideal fit with today's pass-happy game and that could be causing his stock to drop some. His best fit is probably somewhere that prioritizes the run game.

The Ravens have a couple early 4th rounders and he strikes me as their kind of guy.

He is no. 40 out of 262 players to be drafted this year. That is quite an accomplishment.
Agreed. I was wondering why someone thought he was falling down the draft board. 40 is great for him.

Maybe I’m wrong but it doesn’t seem like a lot of OL have been taken in the first few rounds.
2021 - 23 OL in first 3 rounds, 14 were tackles
2022 - 20 OL in first 3 rounds, 10 were tackles

So not a big difference.

I've watched the pre-draft stuff a little more closely this year and it must be difficult to grade OLs. Some highly-ranked guys in the amateur scouting community still on the board (Faalele, Kinnard, Tom, Salyer). OL must be getting more complicated to project.

NFL.com has him rated as “6.20-6.29
Will eventually be average starter”.

We’ll see.

Nailed it.

Awesome. Two gophers drafted so far and neither ended up with the Packers. So good news on both fronts. 😎

Hopefully a couple others hear their names called as well or find good UDFA deals somewhere.

The Ravens have good taste. It's a good franchise that usually seems like one of the sharps at the table.

I'm getting my tickets for the Baltimore at Tampa Bay game this season, at a date TBD. Gopher reunion at the site of the Outback Bowl!

Since the Viking have already taken two CBs....I would be surprised to see them take a third....but I was hoping they'd look at Durr. But Andries, Otomewo, Kieft, Gibbens, and Pickney all could still go at some point.

Faalele is the fifth pick in the fourth round to the Ravens.

I called it Dinkytown on the Chesapeake back in October, now here we are. Congrats, Big Dan!

Spring Game is on BTN at 1:00 PM.

Was there a P5 team with a longer drought of having an OL drafted than the Gophers? I can’t believe there was.
