Week 3 Other Games Thread

Jahan Dotson might be the best WR in CFB right now.

I've maintained contact with a GT board since the bowl game.

They have been pretty down just like us in Year 2 (or 3 by regular count). This game should show some progress for them. Just like us turning around when the D-coordinator was fired and we ended up in the bowl game against GT.

Tonight showed that also like us against OH-IO State in Game 1, hard to beat superior athletes. But it can be done on any given Saturday.

We beat PSU and Auburn 2 years ago and it felt good. Hoping things come together for GT from here.

These SEC officials in the Penn State game are giving Big Ten basketball refs a run for their money.

Did anyone hear Allen’s comments after the Cincy game? I’ll look for them and edit, but at first blush he sounded like a whiner.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it (I’m in the minority and don’t like Tom Allen), but go to the 3:50 mark when he’s asked about a targeting call. I feel it was the correct call 100%. He says something like “sometimes life’s not fair, and things happen that are unfair”, and then talks about how he didn’t know who it was called on, and he couldn’t see it on the replay, it wasn’t called on the field…and then goes on to say that he needs to review it because he only saw limited angles on the replay.

It shouldn’t have counted as Memphis had two #4’s on the field at the same time.

The ball wasn't moving, and looked like it was downed by Miss St, and you can see the ref coming in to blow it dead but just doesn't blow the whistle for some reason. That was a total screw up by the officiating.

I had a similar reaction to you when I heard Allen's comments.

The SEC refs are having a bad day. I have been a baseball umpire at the high school level all around the southwest US and if I blew a ball or strike call (didnt happen too often), i was upset. I cant imagine how embarrassed these refs will feel like tomorrow morning. This game can legitimately be disputed if Penn State loses because of the 3rd/4th down error. The ref actually got on the microphone to confirm 4th down as well.

That’s a great example of where targeting should have two levels of severity. Fine to call the penalty but the guy doesn’t deserve to be ejected.

Yuck. That was anti-climactic from Auburn.
