Welcome new GopherHole members, please introduce yourself!

Hello. New member here. Mizzou grad and when my job moved me to Minneapolis years ago I instantly adopted the Gophers. I'm a HUGE college sports fan so I went all in on the Gophers. If you walked into my man cave you would think I was a Gopher alum. Framed Gopher hockey jersey, signed Gopher football, signed Gopher hockey stick, rotating lighted Gopher wall sign, etc.

Go Gophers! and Go Mizzou!

You and Baldy must be two peas in a pod!

Greetings! I am a lifelong gopher fan and a graduate of the U. Have also been following this site, and it’s numerous iterations, for many years. First gopher game i ever saw was in Champaign IL. My father brought me to see the legendary Gil Fash (sp?) lead the gophers to a 14-10 win (or close to that). Have been to many games since including the old memorial stadium, the metrodome, and “the Bank”. Best game i ever saw was the victory over Fresno State. We were sitting near the end zone where Winfield made the game saving interception and everyone going “what did I just see!?” Was extremely skeptical of Fleck at first…reminded me of Brewster…but Fleck can actually coach!

Also have my graduate degree form the University of Iowa….but I hate the “squawk- eyes”. Thats a story for another time. Please, please beat the Hawkeyes this year!

I was born and raised in Michigan and have degrees from Michigan and Purdue, and now live in Oklahoma. I'm old enough to remember when the battle for the little brown jug was competitive year in and out (seeing some of the other posts in this thread makes me feel young!). I'm a fan of Big Ten sports. One of my daughters had epilepsy ( she's in her 30s now and seems to have outgrown it), so when Kill became coach, it rekindled my interest in Minnesota athletics.

I’ve been reading the board since some folks named Loon and Wren had a triple digit number of posts. Born in southern MN. Moved around quite a bit growing up - bounced along the southern part of the state, went overseas as a FES, and then finished up school in ND.

Became a fan growing up when my grandfather would take me to games in the dome. Didn’t attend the U, but come from TX frequently for games. My oldest is a big fan. Best game was PSU ‘19. Never thought I’d feel SEC type electricity for an entire MN home game. Reminded me of some games I’ve been to at LSU.

Probably won’t post too often, but enjoy most of the reads.

Hello everyone. I’m a Tennessee transplant. Moved up here last year. I’ve been a die hard Vol fan ever since I can remember. I’m old enough to remember the glory days but it goes without saying the last 15 years have been pretty depressing. I’m cautiously optimistic for this year but still have my doubts. I watched the OSU game last week and got pretty excited at times. I plan on going to some games this year seeing as I’m so close. I wanted to get an idea on the overall expectations for you guys this season. Morgan seems to be able to handle the ball pretty decently. Losing Ibrahim was a tough blow. Who do you think is most capable of stepping up and filling in? I wish you guys luck this season and will be tuning in. Thanks for having me.

You must be a centenarian.

I’ve always been a gopher football and basketball fan. I can remember shingling our shop on our farm and having a radio up there with an extension cord. It was a gopher and Iowa game in 1954. Bob McNamara had an 84 yard kickoff return and if I remember right they won. I had season tickets since the late 1960’s but gave them up a few years ago when parking seemed to be too much of a hassle.

Each year as we approach the start of the football season, we get a slew of new members, this year is no different. For those that have recently registered for an account, welcome! Please introduce yourself: season ticket holder? Out of state fan? Favorite Gopher game?
Roger Downing long time Gopher fan. Looking for a ticket for tomorrow's game

Hi, I'm the state record muskie. I'm swimming in Lake Mille Lacs, but hoping to be relocated to Lake Vermilion. Sometimes I watch sports or sit under the boat when you have them on the radio. Thank you for having me.

How long can you stay out of water; lay on the sandy, dirty carpet of my boat; then pose for pictures while I try and hold you with my Dorito's-laden fingers before you start to swim away real slowly and mostly upside down after I let you go?

A little bit longer right now. In July my twin sister died after being passed around the boat. It was the third time she was ever caught, three strikes and you're out. I can't wait until the season closes. I've been so tempted this summer in many figure 8's.

We've had another big bump in new members. Please stop by this thread and introduce yourself!
