All Things Joshua Ola-Joseph Recruitment Thread (Class of 2022; Osseo HS; Gophers Offered)

We won’t, but you know some kids may want to go to Clemson or Loyola. Chicago a great city, even though Loyola less likely as a lesser conference. Clemson could be totally understandable for a kid who maybe wants to get out of state, being ACC and could fall in love with the campus. However, you seem to take a negative view on every kid even though no coach can control when a kid simply wants to try something different.

I'm pretty sure JOJ will be a Gopher this weekend

If it was a random recruit maybe. Losing a local kid to one of those two would be bad.

Can you point me to a positive post you made after our first two commits?

I'm curious, I don't see one. Few chicken little posts before they committed.....

I'm happy with both commits. Calm down.

That's not what I asked.

Can you point to post you made saying good things? I just see you whining pre commit of both, nothing after they committed.

Generally curious if you share positive news or just revel in negativity.
I'm positive when there are positive things happening. Whether I posted in the particular thread when Payne committed or just liked one of the 20 comments already there I don't recall. Why do you care?

I've only seen negativity out of you

Just curious if you ever are positive

Why? Local kids have a right to want to leave the state even though it may not be a blueblood. They may love Ben but simply want to try something new. I have met plenty of kids, athletes and non-athletes, who simply want to live somewhere else for their four years of college. The best coaches in the country see kids from their own backyard choose to go to other programs.

I get all that. Wanting to go elsewhere is one thing. But Loyola is in a smaller conference and just lost its coach and Clemson is a football school whose coach has been on the hot seat in recent years. I would not view losing a local recruit to those schools the same as Purdue or Stanford or even Iowa State.

Great post. I track it pretty damn close and your right, The very best kids usually take advantage of getting away from home. This would hardly be a huge loss. He is not a elite prospect and Clemson is a damn cool college atmosphere. Al that said it is likely he is coming here. We all have our bias and i think young kids benefit a great deal by going away .

You wouldn’t, but a kid can fall in love with an ACC school such as Clemson. Actually see kids pick a perceived lesser program than their local school quite often. Not the reach you seem to think it is. I agree it is less likely with a smaller conference school like Loyola, and said as much. Yet Loyola has had a ton of success, it’s a beautiful campus in an amazing city with an engaging coach. They have been picking up some good recruits.

Loyola's coach is as much, if not more, of a wild card as ours is.

Yep. See the context of my post. Wasn’t saying he’s any stronger than Ben.
Just saying I can't fathom their "engaging coach" would be an Ace in the hole for Loyola.

Sure they have the right to leave the state. I would even go so far as to say that leaving would NOT be a sign of a moral defect in their character or of their parent's character.

...but let's be honest, it's pretty dang close.

Welp this has dragged on long enough lol... I expected this commitment this weekend... As did I think everyone else based upon some responses. Still time. Maybe this week but I'm starting to feel like he's plan B and was told wait to see what dunn says. Idk... Dissapointing... Combined with the Nebraska loss to Illinois the weekends would have been an A++ if he woulda said I do

He's not a plan B. Commitment videos take awhile to make.... Him and Dunn arent similar players and wont play the same position much. JOJ will play mostly the 4 and Dunn will play on the wing. Theyll take both if they can.

Getting Dunn would be huge. Some of his offers moved on after filling.

It's so interesting to see who replies to which topics on this board. On the topic of "Which team is clearly the worst in the B1G next year," you have pretty much all the sky is falling posters except for a few who are still bothering to try to convince them to wait and see how things turn out. Pretty much none of those posters will be replying on this topic, unless it's to say the guys we have coming in 2022 aren't very highly rated according to one of the ratings sites. We haven't even gotten to September 1st and we have (soon to be) three local recruits who we wanted to get.

And I still say that we will be better next year than 90% of the people on this board think they will be. To be clear....I'm not saying they will get a NCAA or NIT Tournament bid, but they won't be historically bad either.

I hope the Gophers get good news tomorrow....

Took an official to Loyola but it doesnt matter. Hes a Gopher.
Yeah, I don't think he ever made it to Clemson, and I don't think he ever will 👏👏👏 (unless they get paired up with the Gophers in The Challenge).
