PAYTON WILLIS COMMITS TO MINNESOTA, RETURNS BACK

I feel like there should be a blues bros gif I could use

He averaged 9 points a game when he was with the gophers during the 2019-2020 season. OK.

Super disappointed. Not to be a dick.

But I saw the "boom" first and immediately came to GH and was expecting McNeilly

This hasn't happened since Hargrow, and he was from here.

Did he leave initially because of issues with Pitino or something? I’m not upset about this, I’ve just never seen a player transfer out and then back in.

me too....i hope this doesnt hurt our chances with the combo deal from AM guys

although i dont hate him coming back....i would guess he is going to be playing a lot of PG for us....

and if our hoping is right and we get both the A&M kids.....we are full then correct?

Maurice Hargrow did in 04, even though he never suited up for Arkansas.

I'm not disappointed at all. This is what I think he brings:

1. He steps right in as the starting point guard.
2. He's a quality ball handler, which is what we've been looking for.
3. He's another one-year guy who leaves a scholarship open for 2022.
4. It's a really good sign that he liked Minnesota enough to come back.

Great points. And to answer a different poster, I don't see this affecting the A&M guys at all. If they know McNeilly is coming, I'm sure Ben has a good read on who he wants in their final 3-4 spots.

If I remember correctly he hurt his ankle about halfway through his year here and was much worse after that happened. He will contribute.

Minnesota is going to be one of the oldest and most experienced teams in the nation next year. Even if these players aren't superstars, age and experience can make up for a lot.
I’d agree with you if these guys had been playing together for awhile. But they haven’t. You really need chemistry with your teammates on the hardwood, and chemistry takes time.

I'm lukewarm on it.

He is pretty much just a shooter who is only an ok shooter. I don't see him as a true PG, he isn't a particularly strong defender. That said, he isn't awful and we need folks.

I think Ben's and Peyton's paths probably crossed briefly at the U. So that's a plus.

Not enthusiastic about this. I yelled in anger at Willis more than I did in joy his first go round ha

Quality player and depth guy, if not a starter. I like it. The roster is filling up with experienced player, they need to add another big at least.
