Gopher Volleyball 2021 - Spring Season

Gophers coach Hugh McCutcheon said libero CC McGraw practiced this week and might play this weekend. McGraw left the court midway through last Friday's match at Purdue because of an unspecified medical issue.

Are the sleeveless tank top jerseys new for tonight? Thought they always have sleeved shirts

Great stuff from our veteran all-americans. Somebody came out on fire and ended up having a terrific night. Pittman was just spectacular to finish things off in the fifth.

Nice 3-1 win tonight. I'm telling you though, this is good volleyball to watch. Nerve wracking when playing teams like Penn State as they are tough and won't quit.

Gophers in 4. What a fun match. Minnesota broke out the blocking in the fourth set. They had at least 8 or 9.

If I was a ref I’d make Rose burn his challenges just for how annoying Blossom and Parker are lol. I think all the ones they whined about they ended up losing. Except for that horrible out call where the ball landed on the G by McGraw’s foot.

Great match. I finally was and to sit down and really watch the gophers. So much talent on this squad. Cant wait for tomorrow

Got a chance to watch last night and I came away pretty happy with what I saw.

First, those jerseys! Wasn't expecting those, but if the players like them, that's all that matters.

As for the match itself, the ladies were pretty consistent. Felt like they had the advantage on the outsides and right side all night. Penn State has a pair of really good middles and they use them extremely well.

Serve receive was better than it was against Purdue and C.C. looked much sharper than she had previously. Wonder how sick she was when she took the floor against the Boilermakers.

Samedy continues to boss matches, which is a difference maker. Also glad to see Rubright get the start and play pretty well at the net alongside Shaffmaster. Melani continues to grow and her connections with the hitters are improving.

Landfair has good moments and bad; I would expect her to become more consistent as she gains more experience with Shaff's setting. Pittman was her usual self and I really like Kilkelly in the back row.

All and all, a very nice win! See if they can get the sweep today.

Good post. One thing the ladies still need to work on is getting more block touches / staying disciplined with their block to give the defense more of a chance.

It is unimportant, but I was not a fan of those jerseys.

PSU takes the third set 25-17. Gophers getting out defended and out hit. Wenaas in 9 attacks hit -.111

The last two sets have been really poor. Passing, setting, blocking. You name it, it's been plain bad.

See if they can send it to five.

4 blowout sets so far. Let's see if we get a close 5th (and please win)!

Going five. Minnesota takes the fourth 25-15 hitting .324 and with 4 service aces.

Break out night for Landfair 22 kills hitting .340 as Minnesota closes it out 15-10. Landfair spread her hits around the court whether she hit hard or soft. Tough for PSU to defend.
