FWIW - a white actor on the CW superhero show "The Flash" was fired after producers learned of what they are terming "racist and misogynistic" posts on social media. Can't think of the guy's name off the top of my head, but he played Ralph Dibny - aka the Elongated Man. mainly provided comic relief on the show.

It's turning into a tough off-season for the CW. They are also having to find a new actress to play "Batwoman" after the star of that show left after one season. that deal was reportedly a mutual decision. she apparently did not like doing the show, and was becoming a pain in the butt on the set, so everyone decided to go their separate directors. But still, she's the freakin' star of the show, which does present complications.
 

Watched the first 5 seasons of Schitt's Creek in large part due to recommendations in this thread. Great show. I look forward to when Season 6 comes on Netflix.

That show has easily entered my top three sitcoms with Seinfeld and Parks and Rec. Watched it all once with my wife. Then our kids showed interest and we watched the whole thing again right after. And I feel like I could start again. Those last few seasons are just perfection.

FYI, we watched season 6 on YouTubeTV. If you have that or a different streaming service you can probably watch it now.

We just started watching the show. Halfway through season 1.
 


We checked out Space Force mainly due the case of Carell, Malkovich, Schwartz, & Kudrow. While the cast holds up, the writing is underwhelming, lost somewhere between The Office & Veep. EXCEPT for the scene were Carell relays to one of his officers how the chimpstronaut was taken as a POW by the Chinese Space Force is HILARIOUS. Carell's deadpan delivery is perfect. "That chimp better keep his f-cking mouth shut." If you have Netflix, just watch Episode 2 with the chimpstronaut & astrodog.
 

FWIW - a second season of "The Alienist" debuts Sunday on TNT.

It's based on a series of novels that I would call historical detective stories. Set in New York City near the turn of the Century. a newspaper reporter, a female detective and a psychiatrist - or "alienist" as it was called at that time - team up to solve a series of murders. They interact with a mix of fictional characters and real historical figures. the 1st season included Teddy Roosevelt as a main character, back when he was on the NYC Police Commission.

the 1st season was really well-done, so I hope for the same from the new season.
 






Anyone ever check out "Kingdom" on Netflix? Story about a mixed martial arts gym and a really, really dysfunctional family that's involved in it. (One of the main characters is played by the guy that was the QB in the Friday Night Lights series. He also dated the coach's daughter.) Anyways, thought it was a good series.

Just saw your post. I really enjoyed Picard. Good depth to the writing and certainly fit nicely with The Next Generation storyline.
 

Started watching season 4 of Animal Kingdom on Amazon. Good series. Ellen Barkin is something else. Give it about a 7.5 on the Rayometer.
 




I mentioned this series before, Gomorrah. Saw the first couple seasons on Netflix, which I see it is no longer on. There are two more seasons, but can't find it anywhere except Amazon.co.uk and they want money for each episode. Does anyone here watch Peaky Blinders? I just can't get into it. We've started and stopped a few times based on recommendations. It's very stylish, but I find the plot boring and thin. I liked the first season and am a few episodes into the third. Are later seasons better, or should I just give up on it?

Pamela Anderson. What an actress. The grace, the style, the acting chops...

What a great movie "Barb Wire" was now that I think about it, a cinematic masterpiece for that matter. The dark techno gothic surroundings symbolizing the dark era the movie was set in, the typically rescued (Barb) becomes the rescuer and heroin, the basic 'good triumphs over evil' that is almost always a winner... and of course her breasts. I mean they're everywhere, protruding out of every orifice of her costume, she brings a gentle yet firm presence to the act of procreation that is quite powerful and compelling.

I watched the film more than once with the sound off just to be able to better take in all of the cinematic nuances that the film has to offer. A damn good $5 well spent for the whole family really.
 

Beyond that masterpiece of work called "Bay Watch", also
  • "Lost In Space" is really bad (at least the first two episodes, that's as far as I got),
  • "Ozark" is great (at least the first season, that's as far as I've watched right now).

Instead of Fonzi's famous "jump the shark" scene, I think we should have renamed it "Piazza saving a girl in 4 inches of water" - wow what a scene!

I bet you went through a lot of socks watching that film.
 


My wife & I have been watching The Umbrella Academy and really like it. We just finished the first season. It's like if Guy Ritchie & Wes Anderson teamed up to make a superhero show. Or like The Avengers meets Arrested Development. Nothing groundbreaking or award-winning, but a solid summer binge.
 


I have not watched it yet but had two people I tend to trust recommend "Greater: The Brandon Burlsworth Story" on Amazon Prime. Burlsworth was a player for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the 90's I believe. A real tear-jerker apparently, but a great true story from what I gather. I may have to watch it tonight
 



Anyone here in to Ozark? We watched the pilot and really didn't like it. Very bleak & doesn't even seem remotely plausible, and none of the characters are likeable or relatable. I like Jason Bateman, and the show got good reviews with some personal recommendations. I realize it's just the pilot, but I don't think I could handle whole series of this. Has anyone seen it & recommend it?
