IMHO, the folks who say a string of 10-11 wins seasons will garner more attention by high 4-Stars and 5 Stars. More invigorating will be how many players can the Gophers get drafted in the next couple of drafts. They've got 5 players drafted in 2020 and two more signed UDFA contracts. They do this, and the recruiting class ranking will go even higher.

It is hard to dislodge the creme de la creme from the blue blood programs unless you can show them something. Some only come to "play skool" and will be gone as soon as they are draft eligible.
Hopefully they come hand-in-hand. Wins and drafted players.

Fully expect to not recruit at the level of Alabama,Clemson, Ohio State etc.. no matter how long PJ is here. And i could care less because he is offering very few and relying on 3-4 star guys that fit a culture, a criteria and many will out perform many of the 5 stars. They will do it as a team. It goes without saying that coaches want the best talent but there is a budget on time and money spent. So he is smart in knowing how much time could be wasted, how many hours and dollars do you use on kids that will not consider us. He believes that he can out develop other programs, out work them, limit turnovers, out fight them.

That's what we did to Auburn

Not to mention we beat Auburn with a little number of 4-star players, while they have a lot of high 4 stars and even 5-star players on their roster.

Including their 5 star QB. We had a 3 star QB playing like a 5 star, and they had a 5 star QB playing like a 3 star.

Plus we had a 3 star receiver and safety playing like 5 star players.

There is absolutely room for us to keep moving up but with our local recruiting base it is going to be really hard for us to get to the very top because we just don't have those high rated local guys that can really skyrocket a class.

Take Ohio State for example. They currently have 7 recruits in their class from the state of Ohio. 5 of those 7 are rated at .95 and above. The state of Ohio has 10 - 4* recruits, the state of Minnesota has under 10 players ranked 3* and up.

For us to ever keep pace with the Ohio State's of the world in recruiting it will take a spectacular recruiting job on the part of the head coach because they will have to convince a ton of highly rated out of state kids to come on board as opposed to trying to convince kids in their own backyard.

This is true, but hopefully it can happen in time. Washington and Oregon are heavily Cali kids, Oklahoma is Texas North University with many Texas players. It happens that teams with not a lot of in state talent can poach from USC, Stanford, all 26 Texas schools (sarcasm because they have so many D1 colleges), but you get my point. It can happen and if there is a reason to go to the U then they will come. It just takes time, a lot of effort and continued change from the norm to elite.

How about that Illinois territory? Keep developing that and more of the Midwest over time.

Exactly. Need to start somewhere and there is a lot of talent there. And getting Ortiz out of Arizona and Dickerson from Nebraska is a sign that things are improving nationally. The brand is expanding.

Fleck is proving over and over again that things many of just assumed were impossible here in the current college football landscape might not be as unattainable as they seemed just a few years ago. If he can continue to build on 2019 season and the 2021 class the sky really is the limit for the program.

Oklahoma State players back Chuba Hubbard's boycott after image of Mike Gundy wearing OAN shirt surfaces

I'm thinking the Green twins will be going elsewhere if this isn't addressed quickly by the administration at OSU.
Unbelievable. Big deal, he watches OAN and is right leaning. Nope, somehow things got to change...what a joke.

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen, and that’s not hyperbole.

Anyway, they’ve already kissed and made up.

OAN is for the willfully ignorant but that said Gundy has every right to wear the t-shirt. This is getting ridiculous.

May be in the minority here but as someone on the moderate liberal side i respect those that have their own values aligned with a news organization or political party that best fits for them. I am not of the mind that everyone that votes Trump is a heartless and under educated person. I personally would note vote for him but i refuse to buy into some narrative that i have to despise him. As for coaches, the ones i know have been out in front of the race issue years before the recent events.

I get that. Take Zim, I don't think he's even remotely liberal or same as me politically. He met with outspoken players, listened, admitted he didn't listen enough (I've never heard accusations of racism, I think he just thinks about football 24/7) and thats all one can ask for. I'm not sure if you're familiar with OAN, but they make Fox News look like MSNBC. They're out there (Gundy's defense of they just report news, no opinions, is BS). For many black athletes it could be an issue if their coach endorses station thats stance is #BLM is a farce.

Anyways, I think it's relevant to recruiting, especially since two targets we had just committed and are younger brother of seth green who has been at protest and will represent the U with B1G committee on race. Maybe his younger brothers don't share his view, I don't know. But could be worth watching recruiting of Ok State

Gundy has the right to wear the shirt. Chuba can also believe what he wants but this is a huge reach in my eyes. Is Chuba really so hurt that he wants Gundy to apologize for wearing a news networks shirt. This is getting way out of hand.
On a side note if you have seen and heard Gundy talk you probably could have guessed that he leans conservative so I don't think this should have shocked anyone.

The issue is that commentators on OAN openly insult and speak against Black Lives Matter. I can see how black players may have an issue with their coach/supposed father figure (for some) repping that position.

Any and every single news network has said numerous things that some people think is crazy, saying stuff that some people disagree with is not specific to one network.
I just think that if you can't work or be friends with someone because they have different political views, you need to reevaluate yourself.

Difference between having political views and promoting a very extreme network. One that speaks against the feelings of the young men you are supposed to be "supporting". Its not like he doesn't know how his players feel. Its not like he doesn't know what OAN stands for. He can be smarter than doing something inflammatory during this period in time.

Gundy is a f--king prick. Its no surprise he is embroiled in this one.

That is literally what having differing opinions is. One person feels one way and the other feels a different way, it's what we are doing right now. Having different views and opinions is great. Gundy can have his opinion and Chuba can have his. But I don't think that Chuba should say that Gundy's beliefs are horrible because it doesn't match his beliefs. I understand some of the points you made, I hope you can also understand where I'm coming from.

I agree with your concept. I guess I just feel - as a leader of men - there is a difference between possessing beliefs and advertising them on social media. Being a leader is different than being an average Joe citizen.

Can we start a thread that does not involve the recruiting thread that does politics in the College. I keep looking at the thread looking for recruiting information and keep reading non recruiting information.
