All Things Tre Holloman Recruitment Thread (Class of 2022)

I'm a huge Holloman fan. He's big, athletic, excellent on the defensive end, excellent passer. As it seems is the case with all young lead guards, his jumper is unproven. High-energy kid. Strikes me as the type of guy who teammates cherish and opponents despise. He's been the best player for CDH each of the last two years (CDH was a top-three team in Class AAAA this past winter) and I'd be shocked if he didn't end up with an extensive offer list including blue bloods. Reminds me of Kris Dunn.

Count me in as being on the Tre bandwagon. Love lead guards who are pitbulls and great on ball defenders. Put some shooters around him and let him go.

Kids unselfish if you are open and shot maker you get the ball. He will hit you in the back of the head with ball if you are up court and not looking for the ball.

He looks up court constantly to move the ball by passing not by the dribble. Maybe a mini Dunn. Tre is 6’1.

Curious as to why people call him big...he is 6’1, probably 160 if he is holding two gallons of milk.

He is quicker than anyone I’ve seen around here. Electric athlete, great player. But his biggest knock currently is probably his lack of size.

In the podcast about a week ago, DJ mentioned that Tre was a primary focus and that he has the clout with the local kids that could create others to follow if he goes to the U.

Would be interesting to see if he helps bring guys back to Pulley too. I hope they get back to getting top kids. Felt their training and coaching was the best.

He might be 6-foot-1 at this point, which means he probably finishes somewhere in the 6'2/6'3 range which is a big PG. And this is based on nothing aside from me looking at him but I'd bet his wingspan is quite a bit longer than his height. He's got a big frame for a 15-year-old as well. I'd bet by the time he's a senior, he's in the 6'3, 185 range.

Reminds me a little bit of Butch Lee. Are the Gophers considered the favorites on here. A few ex college players that have helped him from other schools say he wants to look around. He is a top 20 point guard in his class.

Doubt gophers are favorites in any way but they are certainly going to prioritize him as a top recruit in that class.

As well they should. Sure Oturu will play his part, the benefits of staying home etc.. I think it will come down to which coach he and his family is the best fit for him, who has the best relationship with him.

Yeah who knows. Pitino offered early and seems like Gophers have attempted to keep the relationship strong so those excuses can at least be tossed out the window.

I am sure he has done a great job. I have never had a problem with his recruiting. I never get bent on the local angle.

Same. Pitino works his ass off recruiting-wise and allocates a lot of his time trying to bring in the local talent. I remember he was going to Dawson Garcia's 6 AM shootarounds just for the kid to string us along for Marquette. As long as he brings in good kids that can hoop I could care less where they're from.

Does that still include the programs that cheat?

Does that still include the programs that cheat?
The programs that this board says cheat have not even offered him. The top clean programs like Nova or UVA have not offered him. Your guess on the schools that offered him are as good as anyones on who cheats. Go down his list of offers and tell me which ones cheat. He has two top 10 program offers. What coaches cheat that he has offers from .

So they were in contact with him today.
No idea if they started on the first day allowed of the 2022 kids. Your the one who posted that they were in contact today. Took your word for it as you stated it as fact. I can find out.

KSTP: CDH guard Tre Holloman getting more and more attention from college coaches

Cretin-Derham Hall Class of 2022 guard Tre Holloman is a soft-spoken young man who makes all his noise on the basketball court.

Holloman is going into his junior year and he continues to gain attention from high-major college programs. The list is starting to grow. Currently, Holloman has offers from Minnesota, Iowa State, Nebraska, Baylor, Iowa, Michigan State, and more.

In fact, the Spartans called Holloman recently one minute after phone calls were allowed, per NCAA recruiting rules. That was at 12:01 a.m.

"(Tom) Izzo (Michigan State head coach) called me and then he asked me how I was doing and like I was one of his first phone calls and it was just positive vibes and then he said he wants me to come down to the campus," said Holloman.

Go Gophers!!

Probably as important as any recruit we’ve been in on in recent memory. Likely a high quality 3-4 year player...could start a domino effect in recruiting too

per Shooter:

Included is Cretin-Derham Hall junior point guard Tre Holloman. The 6-2 junior is being recruited by Arkansas coach Eric Musselman, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo and the Gophers’ Richard Pitino, who was the first to offer a scholarship.

Also recruiting Holloman are Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa State. Most also have offered football tenders. In football, Holloman plays safety and wide receiver.

Go Gophers!!

Let's get this kid! It's been a while since we've had a great, local PG. Who was the last one? Nolen?

Ben Johnson has a chance to get Tre Holloman might be a small chance. Pitino had no chance. Hopefully the odds grow each day.

Tre should be Priority #1 for Johnson.

We should be able to land Tre despite his great offer list and he would be a HUGE addition to the program.

Go Gophers!!
What makes you so confident? I know this is precisely why Ben was brought in but the problem is that most players (or so it would logically seem) want to play for a proven coach, not just someone from their home state.

Hopefully I'm wrong!

Curious to understand why Ben would stand out to Tre, other than the obvious reason?
