Odds to win 2020 CFP (Minnesota: 100/1)

Love my Gophers, definitely have the Maroon tinted glasses on, but watching the game last night, seems like those teams are playing a different level. As good as we were this year, the gap between a top ten team and a top 4 team seems pretty wide.

MIchigan is 40-1 and I'll bet $ to donuts we beat them next year and get the jug. Auburn lost to LSU by 3 points (they were 9-4 losing only to teams that ended 1-2-4-10 and beating 2 top 10 teams) and we beat Auburn. But yeah, LSU looked incredible.

I used to think this way, too. But now I'm not sure I agree with the "different level" argument anymore.

Auburn lost to LSU by 3 points. 3 points. And as far as I know no one has ever claimed that LSU is on a "different level" from Auburn. The Gophers whipped Auburn, and it was worse than the final score of that game would indicate.

I know that those facts alone don't prove the Gophers are as good as LSU and/or Clemson, but I am beginning to think that the entire "different level" argument is weakening. It hasn't been disproved (yet), it's not crumbling — but it might be developing some cracks in the foundation.

This. I had to re-read those odds on Morgan to win the Heisman. Time to start shedding the "we ain't on their level" thing, I think. At least for me. At least, that's what Coach asked the State of MN to do.

They said on last night's broadcast that Burrow was 200 to 1 starting this year...

There is a definite talent gap but it isn't insurmountable as we proved in the game against Auburn. The right players can compete with better athletes. We have an offense that is getting to the point where it can hang with the best in the business. If the D improves in a similar manner over the next few seasons we have a definite shot to be in this mix. Maybe not as a favorite but a definite contender.

I agree. Six or seven years ago I said on this website that if we played Ohio State 10 times we would lose all 10 times and it made people upset.

Now were a much better team. We would still be underdogs against Ohio State, LSU, and others but it isn't impossible. We absolutely could beat those teams

And Tanner Morgan 10/1 odds to win the Heisman, behind only Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Kedon Slovis.

Insane.
His odds were stated as MUCH lower in a thread last week...something like 100/1, I believe. I stated how that was a fantastic bet given how many weird things happen in a CFB season like injuries, upsets, etc. But man, 10-1...it's hard to imagine how far this program has come.
