Is he really 6-6. Nice to have a 3pt shooter with that height. How athletic is he? How is the rest of his game?

Has a weird shot. Legs really far apart. Kind of reminds me of Joey King

Heights legit, hes not very athletic. At this point hes mainly just a shooter.

Our drought of good shooters lately makes hearing "just a shooter" sound like angels whispering in my ears. Shooters should always be welcome.

I know he's young but I'm not sure he'd even be able to get that shot off against Big 10 caliber defenders. He sort of winds up and then shoots it over his shoulder. If you notice, every single jumper/3pt in the video was a set shot.

In fairness to Walton, I’m not sure his shot is that much slower than Hurt’s was coming out of HS and he’s still got 2 years to tweak with it so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I haven’t seen him play defense so not sure he’s the defender that Gabe is but it’d be great to have some momentum where we pull in a 3 and D wing or 2 every other class. Walton definitely has the measurables to make an impact on that end so hopefully he can put it all together. As others have said, you can never have enough 3PT shooting.

Seems to be quite a bit of criticism for a kid with offers from MN, Purdue, Baylor, Kansas St., Creighton....not to mention being a 247 composite 4 star.

Can someone with solid knowledge of the D1 16's this past summer give some insight on where Kerwin fell on that team's "pecking order" - was he the definitive #3 guy behind Garcia and Carlson?

My comment wasn't meant to be a criticism, I just noticed that a highlight video for a 6-6 kid didn't contain any dunks. I don't know anything about him, if Pitino offered, then I assume he has some talents that the Gopher could use.

He can get his shot off not a slow release..not great elevation yet...watching him in the pro am I noticed he had super soft touch on his short range shots and never got rattled vs the much older players.

per KSTP:

Junior guard Kerwin Walton is a special player on the Hopkins high school basketball team. He just recently added the University of Minnesota to his list of college scholarship offers to play basketball at the next level.

Walton, who transferred to Hopkins from Breck after his freshman year, didn't get serious playing basketball until the age of 10. He learned the game from his father. Walton transferred from Breck to raise his level of competition, trying to develop into a better player. Playing with the likes of blue-chip teammate Zeke Nnaji, a nationwide top-30 Class of 2019 recruit, will certainly do that.

Outside of basketball, Walton plans on a double-major in college, possibly medicine and business.

Walton has offers so far from Minnesota, Creighton, South Dakota, Drake, Denver, Kansas State, Purdue and Baylor. Virginia and Memphis are showing interest, among others.

Walton's offer from Richard Pitino of the Gophers came in over the weekend.

This kid is money, he kind of reminds me of Gabe in a way.

Not a great athlete but a great shooter, really solid positional defender and just makes a ton of winning plays. He frustrated the hell out of Kendall Brown last night even though he's not near the athlete Brown is. Pretty much everyone else who plays meaningful minutes is a senior so it will be interesting to see how he does when he's the man next year.

I'm not trying to start the whole "MN kids should stay home" debate. But how cool would it be if all 5 of these guys did stay home? Tons of talent there. Certainly appears Suggs and Carlson are going elsewhere. But maybe 3 of them? I was very impressed with Walton in the State Tourney.

RJ says Walton is the most likely to stay home, we just need to beat out Purdue. He said at best we'd get one of the big guys because none of them want to play with each other due to similar styles and being in the same class. Suggs we will only get if he decides to be a two sport athlete for the hometown school. So 3 of the 5 is technically still possible but it would be Suggs, Walton, and one of the bigs. The great thing about that scenario is we get 3 fantastic recruits and only use 2 scholarships because Suggs would have to be a football scholarship per NCAA rules.

I think we should all be super excited if we were able to get 2 of those 5.....I don't think there is anyway we get 3. and if we do our 2020 team is going to be really fricken good.
But I would be very satisfied with Walton and one of the bigs.

Kerwin Walton's one of Purdue's top perimeter targets for 2020

Walton made junior-year official visits to Baylor and Purdue, visiting West Lafayette for the Boilermakers' win over Indiana in January.

"They fit my playing style," he said. "They like to shoot threes and they've got some solid bigs. They like to defend and move the ball, and I like how they've used their guards, shooting off the run. They've been a good three-point shooting team."

The 6-foot-5 Walton is just that himself, considered an outstanding jump-shooter. He averaged roughly 17 points for Hopkins, playing alongside McDonald's All-American Zeke Nnaji, who Purdue pursued heavily for the 2019 class. When Hopkins beat Lakeville North for the state's 4A title, Walton scored a team-best 17.

The product of a premier high school program and highly successful grassroots program, Walton's won a lot during his high school career to this point.

"I think it shows I know how to battle through adversity and that I want to help lead this team to where we want to be," Walton said of his upcoming spring and summer with the D1 Minnesota program. "I think I know more about what it takes to get there and win it all, and that's my main focus."
