Go Gophers!!

I am assuming is McKinley Wright, but be nice to know the name of the player and not their twitter handle. I also find it creepy when a grown ass man tweets a teenager because his favorite team is recruiting him

proscpects your thoughts?

As an out of state fan, can someone list the instate prospects from Trent on down as to your belief about ranking and what players you think the gophers should target?

http://www.mnbasketballhub.com/page/show/2270231-2017-recruitment

I know about Trent and Theo.

Is Mar a priority? Iowa state offer.
How athletic is Jericho Sims, has a UNLV offer?
McKinley Wright sounds like a driver/slasher, can he shoot the 3 at all? Illinois and Iowa State offers.

Iowa State has been a top 15 team for a few years?

I would go:

Trent
Theo
McKinley Wright (Best PG in class)
Mar (Wouldn't be the most exciting recruit, but I definitely wouldn't be upset signing him)
Reuvers (Borderline, would probably reaching if they had to go after him)
Sims (?) (Never seen him play, but heard good things)

Anyone else would not be a good pickup for the gophers IMO.

With only 1 scholarship for the Gophers right now I think they are more focused on the 2 bigs John and Reuvers. I'd really like the Gophers to end up with at least a couple scholarships for 2017 and would be fine with landing any of top 6 or so.
Trent(1 and done instant starter)
John(very good defensively shot blocker and good rebounder, very athletic has offensive upside)
M.Wright(contributes in many different ways, solid PG who can control a game, good rebounder for a guard)
Mar(very good on defensive end, has started to do more offensively seems to be a better shooter this year)
Reuvers(solid player haven't seen as much of him but in the game I saw I'd compare him to Alex Illikainen)
Davison(seems like a good 4 year type guard, not an outstanding athlete but a great shooter and leader)
Sims(haven't seen him play but have read good things, went over 1,000 pts this week)
El-Almin(real athletic PG that can push pace)
Hanson(haven't seen much of him but have heard he is more of a slasher and probably more mid-major type)
S.Wright(solid all around contributor probably ends up at a mid major)

Would love to get Wright, but it may be too late as I ultimately think he goes to Iowa State with the opportunity to play early with Monte Morris leaving when he comes in as a freshman. He's better shooting and rebounding version of Kevin Dorsey. I'm not sure he ever gets a U of MN offer as they want to go all out in getting Tre in 2018.

Agree but what grown man is tweeting Wright?

I'd agree with this order, although I'd have John and Wright as 2A and 2B.

Reuvers is an interesting case because he's a late bloomer. It's tough to say what his potential is right now, but I think he could pass Mar on this list.

Mar isn't exciting and probably won't ever be a great offensive player but he could turn into an elite defender at the college level. There's plenty of value in that.

I am assuming that's the case from post claiming his account is 100 percent cyclone tweets. maybe creepy is the wrong word I'll reserve that for a football coach who has sleep overs at his recruits houses where Netflix and Chill takes place, but it's weird.

I always assumed Reuvers was a back up plan if we don't land John. I think he will be good. Mar is intriguing I could see him turning into Damien Johnson. I don't think we will land Tre, hope I am wrong, I would like our odds better with Wright, especially if we get Theo John.

You can read tweets without sending any.

Of course 2017 is loaded and we only have one scholarship at the moment.

Wouldn't be surprised if we had two, but it looks like there might be 4 of 5 high-major caliber players that we could have a reasonable shot at (not Trent)

It's good to have loaded classes because then the younger players have something to shoot for and learn from. This is good for Minnesota basketball in the future no matter how many players the Gophers get.

I certainly wouldn't complain if there ends up being some mutual parting of ways of a few players to make room for some talented Minnesotans...

Williams highlights start at about 1:11 in this video. Video also has Sid Wilson who is/was a Gopher target at one point:

The Gophers will be visiting 2017 g/f Trae Berhow tonight. Talented kid, might be ready to take the next step to High Major after Northern Iowa offered last night.

Who in this class has the size we need other than Theo John?

Reuvers is tall but not big. Jericho Sims could be another in-state PF they look at; has offers from Auburn, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, UNLV.

Might be the type of shooter we could use? Stroke looks pretty good.

So I haven't been following the receuitment of the 2017 class much at all. Usually I'm all over it, but for whatever reason I've backed off this year. Maybe it's because we finally couped an elite recruit in 2016, maybe it's because I paid international data charges in Argentina to learn that Reid Travis chose Stanford over the U last minute in 2014. Whatever the reason, I was hoping that someone could take the time to highlight what to look for following the season.

Which positions are we targeting? Are we on any top tier players? Has anyone expressed that they are leaning gophers yet? Seems like a lot of the hype is around local kids, where do they fall in the national rankings? I know it's super early for the 2017 class, but I've come to appreciate gopher hole for the aggregated information.

I'd greatly appreciate if anyone was willing to take the time to highlight how Pitino's 2017 strategy is shaping up!

we have 1 scholarship open right now. we need a big in that class. theo john is top target.

most hope we'll have more than 1 available though and the instate class is very strong. john's teammate mckinley wright a pg likely to get an offer.

we also need shooters badly.

bad thing is pitino needs to win next year so if we get more schollies open, they'll likely try to add more for 2016 class this spring.
