Allegations that Escorts Were Provided to Louisville Players and Recruits

Either way, Rick will be out soon and will be in NBA next. The good news is that Richard will be here longer now that UL may not want another Pitino there.

Can't see Rick going back to the NBA, too old and his style clearly wore thin in the NBA. He's probably done if he has to leave Louisville, unless he's willing to take on a project like Rutgers or Boston College

I thought the negativity in that town sucked.

LOL true I was just thinking of teams that suck. Maybe he will replace Tubby at Tech, they seem to like hiring guys in the twilight of their careers with national titles, Tubby and Knight. They like guys who coached at Kentucky, Tubby and Billy G and guys who have serious baggage. Billy G had a drinking problem and well Bobby Knight is Bobby Knight.

Billy G coached at Texas A&M.

And doesn't Tubby's sophomore class have some promise? Probably too early (3rd year) for Tech to pull the plug on him?

You blinked and must have missed the Billy G era in Lubbock, who was dumped following a player revolt (justified).

Obviously, you don't know much about Rick's ego. He won't hang his gloves as a loser. He'll be back. I bet a dollar on it.

This might be true. When he wins a national championship at TT, people will say he did it with the previous coach's players??????

Folks here will be too busy celebrating the Gophers 5th straight Rose Bowl and the Vikings 5th straight Super Bowl to notice. What with hell being frozen over and all...

It was a joke. I meant when Pitino becomes a head coach at TT. Sorry, wrote too fast. That school is a football school and their basketball team will suck no matter who coaches them.

Ask Rick Rickert about his recruitment trip. He received the same treatment as the Louisville recruits. I know for a fact.

Why would he resign? If more damning evidence comes out and things are looking worse, won't the university buyout his contract? He might as well get paid to leave.

What does UL gain by buying him out and getting rid of him though? That's my biggest argument as to why he goes no where. UL boosters want to win. What ESPN thinks of Rick Pitino doesn't deter that. As long as boosters will keep donating with Rick there and wins keep coming. He will not be leaving.

He will be used as a scapegoat. I have a feeling that Miss .... contacted Rick 1st to get some money and Rick who didn't have an assistant to force a marriage with this time, said no. At the moment, Rick will be blamed for everything as he should. University is much bigger than Rick Pitino. He is out.

What does UL gain by firing Rick Pitino? Anything? What is their incentive to do so? That's my point. They don't lose money or donations assuming boosters don't care (I'd guess it was a lot of booster money funding it). Fans will keep coming if Rick keeps winning. It likely won't save them from any NCAA punishments. They also may not make a HR hire and struggle through a re-build. I get the average CBB fan wants him gone for morality, etc. but I don't see any risk or downside here to Louisville if they keep him on.

The only "gain" is that ESPN may like them a little better.

It's even more interested to me ole Roy is still fine at UNC with no calls for his removal.

You are right. When we compare Roy to Rick, we can tell why Rick might be gone. People like Roy for the most part. Rick on the other hand has been nothing but an arrogant bastard. Many people don't like him. University will save face by letting him go. I agree with you that nothing will be added financially to them but they will gain their reputation back in a few years. Remember DC was one of the cleanest guys in this business. Rick had some big shoes to fill. As far as reputation goes he has been a PR nightmare.

If Roy Williams can survive 30 years of a fake African American studies Program, Than I think slick Rick can survive a hookers memoirs. I mean if were all being honest is anyone really shocked by this? The only part I don't get is there are plenty of sleuths of campus that would do this why hire a bunch of hoes?

Don't disagree there. I just don't think UL cares about their PR more than their finances and winning. Could certainly be wrong, but I'd guess those are their number one priorities.

It's a mob mentality that wants him fired. My question is if you consider firing the coach because it's his program...why wouldn't you fire the AD? The AD is even more responsible. (I am under the belief neither guy was aware of any of this) And I don't think either should be fired. In Roy's case...it seems he would of had to know...going on too long, involving too many people. In the Pitino case, many of the party people were only on campus for a couple days and gone. NC all day every day.

I don't understand the controversy. The U has been providing escorts to students for years. Usually it's female students looking for them here though. Often when they have to walk across campus late at night, or in a parking ramp.

Hmmm-mmmmm. Louisville fans have no desire to return to obscurity. Also an interesting thought on Wiliams.

When I saw their pictures, I said the same thing. Example, 2 of MSU freshmen BB players rapped a girl who just wanted to hang out with them during their orientation a few years ago. Izzo and MSU admins very quietly let that die.

Division 1 sports, especially the revenue producers are a dirty game. I think Rick knows much more than he is saying. Did he directly tell the assistant to do this? Probably not. Did he make sure the message got to the assistant, probably. If this stuff is going on in the dorms, someone would have said something to him at some time. I am willing to bet that this is not a rare occurrence in basketball and football recruiting. There is more than we ever hear about.

Forgot about that episode in East Lansing. The U or any organization would never get away with that, with two major news papers trying to one up each other all the time. If I had to guess there aren't too many people calling for Rick's head locally. Most of it seems nationally driven.

Wow.

Not sure why your so shocked by any of that, don't get me wrong the U nor anyone say with gang raping a coed, just saying some things get swept under the rug in college towns. Media and the local police don't look the other way here, like they do in other parts of the country. Delvin Cook and Jameis Winston would've never survived their scandals in a place like the Twin Cities

Rick Pitino is skipping ACC Media Day, but is still sending three players.
