A- Could have been better.

I gave a D, which is probably not fair because that was not the Gophers defense on the field today.

That's who we've got to play at this point because of injuries...and consequently because of that we're experiencing growing pains...again.

F

Gave up some really big plays, a ton of yards, and a lot of points

Nebraska's offense controlled the game, and the defense looked overmatched

Everything was horrible

Gave a "D" because I'm sure they made a few plays.

Otherwise.......gave a "D" because they didn't stop ****. Both literally and figuratively.

Went with a D but was very close to going with F. Allowing a team to go 99 yards can't happen. Hopefully this game was just a one game aberration and they get back on track after the bye week. Going to need a strong showing from the D against Michigan because I just don't see us scoring very much against that defense.

Ran the same game plan the gophers usually do. It wasn't working and no adjustments were really ever made.

It was an F...no doubt about it. Worst performance on defense in quite some time. Claeys knows how to coach, but Neb staff was better yesterday, and the injuries don't help matters any. It was painful to watch.

I'd have to give them a very harsh grade just based on missed tackles alone. That is the fundamental aspect of defensive football, the thing they start drumming into your head in peewee football, WRAP THE BALL CARRIER UP, yet far too often we didn't. Saw far too many arm tackles, and rather than getting low, far too many attempts at high tackles which the offensive player would bounce right through. Tackling-wise, we just looked a mess, and that was sad. Far as I'm concerned, neither injury nor youth can excuse poor technique like that, because tackling is so fundamental. It should be second nature to all of those players.

And then there was the near total lack of pass-rush absent blitzing, and the fact we seemed to be playing in a very soft zone defense far too often yesterday, just overall a terribly disappointing effort.

They'd better clean it up prior to Michigan coming, or we will get blown right off the field.

All season we have made great adjustments on defense. Saturday was disappointing. Not sure if Nebraska adjusted too and our adjustments didn't work, but was surprised how there was little improvement as the game continued.

Tackling was terrible. It was like a Brewster team. Also, again, our d-backs won't turn to face the ball!!! I know "That's how they coach it" but it isn't working! Something needs to change. There were 2-3 passes that were under thrown and could have been picked if our d-backs turned to face the ball. Instead it gets caught by the wideout.

I give them a C.

The pass defense got an B.
The run defense got an F.

Since they didn't appear to show up, I'd give them an incomplete!

I wonder how much of the passive D look was due to the respect given towards Armstrong running & scrambling ability. At times, it seemed as if the DL were merely in a hold pattern and staying in their lanes thus very little pass rush. Other than a couple of plays, the Huskers didn't need to run him very much.

The long TD run was the result of a blitz by Myrick after his man went in motion. The RB ran right by and it appeared as if the safety did not rotate. Easy six.

With how much man they played, they showed they didn't respect armstrongs running very much.
