I don't recall having 6pm games, wonder why this happened? No complaints though...6pm is awesome (and possibly a little warmer).

E. Illinois last year was 6pm. As was UNLV the prior year. NDSU was also at 6pm.

Let's see if they can handle traffic better than the TCU game?

6pm start - hopefully will keep more of the students in the stands at least through 3 quarters until they head out for Halloween parties and drunken escapades.

Being selfish, this kinda sucks. 7 PM meant we would have had time to take the kid (too young to do a night game in late October) trick or treating at 5-6ish and still make kickoff.

If you're selfish so am I...this was my exact thought.

Eastern Time Zone checking in. Works for me.

It does provide an earlier time for the post-game fireworks.

Funny you should mention this. I was thinking before this announcement that the Stadium Village residents would probably riot at city hall if the game didn't get over until 10:30 or later and then they started shooting off fireworks. I honestly wonder if that had something to do with the time change. Unless the game goes to overtime, the fireworks will most likely be done by 10:00 PM.

Or perhaps we'll see a torch lit mob coming down the hill from Prospect Park.

Michigan-Minnesota wasn't attractive enough for ABC at 7 and ESPN wants its doubleheader to start at 6.

This all came down to what network it was going to air on.

ESPN night games start at 7ET/6CT. ESPN 2 games start at the same time. ABC was the only time 8ET/7CT. It would have worked better at the beginning of the year, when we were talking of a game worthy of that and even Gameday coming here.

With the Gophers not even going to make a bowl, ESPN can't air this in on ABC (even though Ohio State-Penn State and Rutgers are NOT ABC worthy, but the latter might have been required with them coming to the Big Ten. It's the same with why the Gophers aired on Saturday Night Football vs. Ohio State years back, but they had a new stadium then. Plus, the first game was on BTN and not an ESPN network).

Not buying that. They would choose to show Khaki pants any chance they get.
