Week One Non-Minnesota Games Thread

Nebraska is BAD.

Huskers down 24-14. Nebraska looked strong their first two drives, and since then their offense has been completely ineffective.

BYU deserves some credit, though. BYU QB has played very well.

Wouldn't it be so sad if Riley and Husker Nation lost their first season opener in 30 years to an average BYU team in Lincoln? If it happens, Nebraska may fold like a cheap tent. Could they actually miss a bowl game??

Indiana down 24-14 to S. Illinois.
Penn St. up 10-7 over Temple.
Tennessee only up 21-17 over Bowling Green
Portland St. beat Washington St.

I think it is a little early for that. BYU probably wins 10 games last year if Hill didn't get hurt. They're not a great team but they're not too bad either.

Issue is this week has no effect on that

Well yeah, not directly. If Wisconsin beats Alabama 49-0, it will also have no effect on the division standings, but I'd feel a lot worse about our chances to win the West this year. I would give the Gophers a greater chance to finish ahead of Nebraska if they lose at home to BYU than if they win.

This is a fun, great, informative thread.

Keep it up!!!

GO GOPHERS!!!

FWIW Colorado State is playing something called "Savannah State" and is up 38-0 with six minutes left in the 2nd.

As I was typing this Savannah State had a 10 yard gain, to bring their total yardage UP to -4 yards...

Nice work

Savannah St. hasn't beaten a Division 1 team since 2011. They have two wins in recent years, one was against a D-II team and another was against an NAIA team. This is nothing more than a scrimmage for Colorado St.

I think Florida Satate played Savannah State within the last 2-3 years. They were given something like a 60 point spread and they covered it.

EDIT, it opened as a 70.5 point spread, went down to 69.5, FSU did not cover, only won 55-0. This was a week after Savannah State lost to Oklahoma State 84-0.

Tommy Armstrong and the offense looked pretty sharp early in this game but the Nebraska defense is having a hard time with BYU. Westercamp is a tough little guy. Kind of like KJ Maye.

The fact that Savannah St. was just able to drive 91 yards to score a TD in the first half against CSU is a good sign as far as I am concerned. They are that bad.

If Indiana loses, should they just fire Wilson and give themselves more time to find a new coach? Losing to an FCS opponent in year 5, even at Indiana, is bad.

Texas Tech up 42-31 over Sam Houston St. It's only halftime. TT has 405 yards, SHS has 374. 98 total plays.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if we see the first firing of the season happen very early.

Temple ties up Penn state midway through the third quarter. How bad of a loss would this be?

Huge interception by the Nebraska LB there. If the throw gets past the LB, BYU has 1st & 10 inside the 30 yard line.

Temple takes the lead on Penn State, 17-10

Of course their OL situation doesn't help.

14 straight points for Nebraska, they take a 28-24 lead.
