Wisky. No contest.

On a side note, I was visiting with an Iowa fan who was vacationing up here.

He said that Gopher fans are the worst followed by the Huskers. Badger fans have always been very good to them.

Badger fans haffta be good to them or they get dragged into a mens' room and forced to have sex. :)

I lived in Wisconsin for 4+ years, and lived in Iowa for 5 years, and I thought the Iowa fans were much harder to deal with. Disclaimer - I was in WI during the Don Morton years, when the program was down, so that impacts my experience.

But Iowa people were just obsessed with the Hawkeyes. After games, I would listen to the call-in shows on the radio, and they would complain after victories if they didn't feel they had dominated the other team sufficiently. As a result, I started rooting for Iowa State just to tick off the IA fans.

Poor Illinois, can someone have some pity hate on them?

I can't stand them in basketball. I can't muster up much rage against them in football. Though there was that time in the 90's they were starting the clock late throughout the 4th quarter in order to enable a comeback. Gov. Carlson even sent the tape into the B1G.

This fan base dabbles in self-hatred so many times throughout the year, I am surprised that Minnesota isn't an option on this poll!

I thought about listing the Gopher athletic Department. But it wasn't good timing.

Who hates Iowa? That's the only school we have a specific chant against.

I think if this poll was done 5 years ago, Iowa would be much closer to Wisconsin. Winning 3 of 5 has definitely softened the hatred.

Did he say worst for when visiting Iowa or when they come up here? Just curious (not sure if it really matters).

I have relatives in Iowa and went to college in the state. They are easy to dislike. But my ex-brother in law was a Michigan alum and was so condescending, smug and arrogant in regards to the superiority of the U of Mich relative to any other university he made me vomit. Therefore they were my choice. Oh, and it was not just athletic superiority that he espoused, but academic, ethical, you name it.

Any school that has red as their primary color...

Wisconsin, Ohio State, Nebraska, Alabama, Oklahoma, St Cloud State, etc... Indeed, the phrase "Better dead than Red" applies to all.

FIFY

In light of what my signature says I hate wisconsin more if we are talking about their fans. They act like they have always been better than us and completely ignore the fact they were lower than bottom dwellers for so many years. I can't wait to go on a multi year run against them and put them back in their place. This year is THE year.

I see lots of dislike for Wisconsin on these threads, but I have long held Iowa as my least favorite. What is your least favorite and why?

I left Rutgers and Maryland off the poll since you can't possibly hate them yet!

Any reason why we can't hate MSU? Someone here has to have some Sparty hate.

If you combined all the zeal of the fans of the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, Wild, Lynx, Gopher Hockey, and Cabins-up-North, you'd have what the Cornhuskers football team enjoys. No reason to be surprised that fans there follow their team so avidly -- ss fans here did before the arrival of the pro sports.

I like the think that Minnesota fans are more humble and realistic than Nebraska fans.

I don't know. UN won five national championships since 1970 in a state with a sparse population, hence little in-state talent, and a lousy place to which to recruit. They did it on the zeal of their fans who were not diluted by pro sports there. I'd say the fans understood their contribution. Seems like our criticism of other Big10 schools is that their fans are too zealous. Perhaps we think that the tepid support the Gophers' football program gets (it gets the fans left over after enthusiasm has been spent on the pro teams in town) should be the same elsewhere. I admire, rather than envy, the programs with the loyal followings. Having lived in college towns, I've seen the difference, and it's dramatic.

I'm glad to see the "Who Hates Iowa" mantra is paying off. :)

They also built a program and continued to keep their bowl streak alive (up until a few years ago) by padding their schedule. Trust me, I realize there is nothing to do here (in Nebraska) but there is no need to be delusional and think that this is the greatest place on earth...I would say it's quite the opposite.

Wisconsin. And btw, this isn't another thread started by me and my so call obsession with Becky.Look at the vote. I'm not the only one who dislikes Becky.

Voted Wisconsin, I have a bunch of family that went there (all from the twin cities) and they are pretty unbearable to talk sports with arrogance come to mind. .

Iowa was no too far behind though. This made me think of a basketball game (might have been @ Iowa last year) that they were complaining the entire game about foul calls and then when it came to Iowa having to foul because the gophers were ahead at the end, they were still complaining that it wasn't a foul = clueless.
