Norwood Teague resigns amind sexual harassment allegations

Just a rumor as of now. Would be nice if mods changed the thread title a little.

What the ever-living **** is going on

Welcome to International Beer Day! Here's to Norwood!

Maturi is the U's Terry Ryan who will come back to right the ship.

Forced out because of the Title IX BS?

Even if it is true, this is another example of the local media reporting rumor rather than fact.

If it is not 100% it should never come out.

Sorry to say guys, but this is legit. It's already happened. Beth Goetz will be the interim AD.

It isn't that hard to stay in compliance with this, every other AD in the country manages to do it. It isn't as if he has accomplished any of his goals anyways, wouldn't be a huge loss in the long run.

Sorry to say guys, but this is legit. It's already happened. Beth Goetz will be the interim AD.

"I wanted you to be among the first to know that I have accepted the resignation of Gopher Athletics Director Norwood Teague, effective immediately.

Norwood's resignation follows the report of two recent incidents of sexual harassment of two non-student University employees. I will deliver additional comments at a 12:15 p.m. press conference today. Those will be available at discover.umn.edu at that time.

To be clear, sexual harassment will not be tolerated at the University of Minnesota and I sincerely regret that our employees experienced this behavior. The University has an explicit policy and a strong code of conduct that articulates our standards. Ensuring a healthy learning, working and living environment for all in our University community is very important.

My focus is to ensure the wellbeing of our students, faculty, staff and visitors across the University system. I am also working closely with Gopher Athletics to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Beth Goetz, deputy athletics director and senior woman administrator, has agreed to step in as interim athletics director. I have great confidence in our athletics program, its current direction and its recent successes. We will have more information about the next steps for Gopher Athletics within the next couple weeks. Thank you in advance for your patience and continued support for Gopher Athletics during this time.

Sincerely,

Eric W. Kaler
President"

Here is Beth's bio:

Beth Goetz joins the Gophers' Athletics management team as Deputy Athletics Director and the department's senior woman administrator.

Goetz comes to Minnesota from Butler University, where she was an associate athletic director and the senior woman administrator since August 2008.

While at Butler, Goetz served as the sport administrator for softball, volleyball and the men's and women's soccer programs. She previously supervised the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. Goetz also worked closely with both of Butler's basketball programs and was the liaison for the women's team for post-season play.

During her time at Butler she also had direct oversight of budget and financial aid. In addition, she was responsible for all aspects of compliance and eligibility, which included monitoring and adhering to all university, conference and NCAA rules. Goetz, who oversaw Title IX reviews and monitored the gender equity plan, was also responsible for all athletic department reports, including the university program evaluation, APR, GSR and EADA.

Unless he tried to cover it up, what the heck? Seems like quite the punishment for something that Norwood really couldn't prevent.

Or was Norwood the one that committed the harassment? I can't tell from the letter. If he is the one. Good bye.

I'll never understand why reporters use the word "may" instead of waiting 20 minutes to get confirmation like they're supposed to. Then they could use the word "will"
