Maybe. Also I am not an alum so perhaps my voice should not be taken as seriously as people who attended and need to rely on the integrity of the degree.
That said, do you think no one with a lower TOEIC score (or equivalent) got in than Deidhue? No brilliant foreign chemistry student made it in with substandard language or writing skills? Certain departments other than athletics don't lobby admissions?
My unsubstantiated point is that the admissions group has an axe to grind with athletics. If so, this is not acceptable. Revenue athletes (leave it to you guys to discuss the other sports) are world class or national level athletes and they deserve consideration for that.
Pitino needs 3-5 admissions per year and should be held accountable for what they achieve at school but he doesn't need to face barriers other Big coaches do not face.
