Kristen Hoskins Can’t Wait to Sign With Minnesota this week

Hoskins was one of ten finalists for the Minnesota Mr. Football award after catching 83 passes for 1,185 yards and 15 touchdowns in 11 games played.

GopherHole caught up with Hoskins Saturday as he scored 18 points to lead Alexandria to a 68-39 win over Austin in basketball.

GopherHole: You were one of ten finalists for the Mr. Football Award. They had the banquet last weekend. What was that experience like?

Kristen Hoskins: It was an amazing experience. Being in a room with a great bunch of football players. I was just happy to be there.

GopherHole: You are signing this week. What is that going to mean to you?

Kristen Hoskins: It is absolutely unreal. I can’t believe it. I’m about to sign and go to college. It is a dream come true. I’m first generation, so I can’t wait for what is ahead.

GopherHole: When did you take your official visit to Minnesota?

Kristen Hoskins: I have. I don’t remember when exactly, but I have already.

GopherHole: How many Gopher games did you get a chance to go to this year?

Kristen Hoskins: I went to like every home game besides two. It was amazing.

GopherHole: Does that get you even more excited being down  there for the games with the atmosphere?

Kristen Hoskins: Yes, sir. Just being a commit and just even being there right behind the bench is absolutely unreal. Just seeing what goes on down on the field. It’s absolutely unreal. It’s crazy.

GopherHole: How well have you got to know the other commits?

Kristen Hoskins: Me and the commits, it’s all like a family already now. We are all tight. We’ve got a group chat. We stay in touch very often, so it feels like a family already.

GopherHole: Does that make you feel better about everything because you already have a relationship with a lot of the guys?

Kristen Hoskins: Yes, sir. It gets me a 100% confident already and comfortable. Just knowing that you can trust these guys when they live far away already and just building that relationship.

GopherHole: Do you even know who you might room with yet?

Kristen Hoskins: It’s going to me and Jacob (Knuth), Anthony and I think Zach Evans, so it is going to be fun. It’s not set and sure yet, but that’s the idea we have.

GopherHole: You are playing basketball right now. You guys had a great season last year and made it to the Class AAA championship game. What are the expectations for the team this year?

Kristen Hoskins: The expectations are high and we are not going to overlook any team. We are going to practice hard and it is going to convert over to games. We hope to go back and we are going to work at that.

GopherHole: I know that you love playing basketball. Do you think that helps you with football in terms of footwork and not getting burned out?

Kristen Hoskins: Oh, yeah. 100%. Just staying shape. Playing a sport I love, so it is definitely good for me. It is a big benefit just staying in shape.

GopherHole: What is it going to mean to you walking to the field your very first game as a freshman?

Kristen Hoskins: It is going to absolutely unreal. It’s just crazy. It’s going to unreal. I can’t wait.
