As it sits today the Gophers have at least two open scholarships. Their clear needs are another veteran guard and you can never have enough shooting.

Projected Depth Chart:

  • G: Mike Mitchell Jr.
  • G: Braeden Carrington/Cameron Christie
  • F: Isaiah Ihnen/Josh Ola-Joseph/Kadyn Betts
  • F: Dawson Garcia/Parker Fox/Will Ramberg
  • C: Pharrel Payne/Jack Wilson
    • *Walk-ons: Jackson Purcell, Erick Reader

Potential Transfer Targets:

Players they’ve officially reached out to:

  • *Charles Pride, G, Bryant

Charles Pride visited the Gophers over the weekend and reports are coming out that it went well. The 6-foot-4 combo guard is exactly what this Gophers roster needs. With the top competition coming from Rhode Island there is a growing chance that we see him in Maroon & Gold sooner rather than later.

    • Chance of signing: 70%
  • Darius Brown II, G, Montana State

After starting his career at Cal State Northridge, Brown II averaged 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists last season for a tournament team. St. John’s, Notre Dame and SMU among others interested. At 6-foot-2, he would fill the reserve guard role that the Gophers are looking for.

    • Chance of signing: 35%
  • *Ques Glover, G, Samford

Originally at Florida, Glover averaged 14.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Bulldogs last season. Listed at 6-foot, Purdue, Memphis and LSU among others are interested. Landing a commitment might be tough, but he could really bost the Gophers’ backcourt for next season.

    • Chance of signing: 12.5%
  • A.J. Plitzuweit, G, South Dakota

I have not heard or seen of the Gophers officially contacting Plitzuweit but as the son of the new UMN women’s basketball coach A.J. deserves at least a mention. He averaged 11.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists last season after recovering from major knee surgery after a terrific season in 2020-21. He is more than capable of being a Big Ten player.

    • Chance of signing: 10%
  • *Naheem McLeod, C, Florida State

7-foot-4 center averaged 4.5p and 2.1r last season. Gonzaga, Arizona and Villanova among others interested. The Gophers’ chances of landing him might be low, but he is still a name to watch.

    • Chance of signing: 10%
Minnesota Guys:
  • Lee Torbor, G, San Jose State (Park Center)

Listed at 6-foot-4, Torbor played in 14 career games for Tim Miles at SJSU. He has 3 years of eligibility remaining after playing a very minimal role for the Trojans. Like many other Minnesota guys in the cycle, I do not think the fit makes much sense, but as a former teammate of Braeden Carrington, I think he is still at least worth a mention.

    • Chance of signing: 10%
  • Cameron Vaughn, G, Mt. Hood Community College/JUCO (Robbinsdale Cooper)

Vaughn is the younger brother of former UNLV standout and first-round NBA draft pick Rashad Vaughn. Listed at 6-foot, he averaged 14.1 ppg on 31.1% shooting from three for Mt. Hood Community College in Oregon last season. He has some serious D1 talent, but it’s unlikely that he’d wind up in the Big Ten.

    • Chance of signing: <5%
