Several of you have joined us on the road for our Gopher Sports successes this past year. Looking ahead to Gopher Football this fall, numerous Gopher fans have asked for the Marching Band to join Goldy and our cheerleaders to enhance our away game football experience as well. Here is your opportunity to help make that vision a reality!
To hear the Rouser, MN March, and Hail! Minnesota on the road, we need to raise additional funds. This will help build on Coach Kill's vision that Minnesota is strong at home and away while helping to enhance your tailgating and gameday experience. While the primary focus of the Golden Gopher Fund is to provide financial support for our 750 student-athletes, it costs about $500 per band member to bring the band to an away football game. All funds raised will be placed in the Marching Band Enhancement Fund and only be used to support band activities.
We need your help in bringing the Pride of Minnesota on the Road for the first time since 2003! This year, we would like to bring a portion of our band to the Nebraska game. This is a historic rival for Minnesota and an opportunity for our fans to see our Golden Gophers and Coach Kill build on our history of success:
Minnesota leads the series 29-21-2
Minnesota has more national championships (seven) than Nebraska (five)
Minnesota is one of only four Big Ten teams to have a winning record against Nebraska; with Nebraska a part of the Legends subdivision, it is a storied rivalry that will build in the years to come
Coach Kill credits the fans for winning the Iowa game – "I don't think we would have won that game without our fans." Imagine what Coach, the players, the Band, and YOU can do in Lincoln, Nebraska together this fall!
