Yes or No ... Gopherhole has impact on recruiting

I really don't think so. Your going to be criticized where ever you go that's part of the game. I think people on here would like to think they have that kind of power in the process...I don't think they do. Having known a few people who have been recruited the fan opinions of you is such a non factor. like if I would have asked one of my friends that about the schools they would have said something to the effect of. "What?...Idk Who cares"

I have already stated

It can't help if a recruit (or a family member) comes to this site and see's dozens of dump Brewster threads. Just saying.

When coach Brewster came to our house my son and i hag compiled a list of questions we worked out together before he got there.... Question number 1 on that list was about his future with the program..

We were concerned because with new coaches comes new philosophies which means you can be playing for a philosophy that you don't fit in because you were recruited for a skill set that no longer is utilized and instead of having a contributing role you are relegated to scout team or special team duty..

There were some offers that we had that we caught wind that a coaching change was on the horizon that we did not consider because we knew there was a strong possibility that the person recruiting us would not be with the program when we got there

with that said if i knew about this board and at the time some of the negativity i read not only about the coach but some of the personal attacks against the players who are just kids

would have given me pause and great concern

to show you how bad this board can be on an earlier post i replied to......one jerk had the nerve to write i was a terrible father
some punk who is brave behind a computer and a key board but would never have had the nerve to say something like that to a persons face

Weren't OSU fans clamoring for Tressel's job earlier this year? Weren't they booing a true Sophomore quarterback after the Purdue game? Does that negatively affect their recruiting? 6-6 has much more to do with recruiting than what is posted here or anywhere on the internet.

The Ohio St. perceived drop in recruiting is much more a numbers thing than a quality thing. They have 5 less recruits than anyone in the Top 25 (8-12 less than a lot of the teams). The players they have recruited are the same tOSU caliber football players, they just don't have a ton of schollys this season. It is merely a gliche in the rivals ranking system.

1) I know for a fact that there are many Gopher Hockey players registered and occasionally posting at gopherpucklive.com - so I see no reason why football and basketball players wouldn't come here.

2) Wills father has openly posted here, so even those players who don't post here may find out about threads via family and friends.

3) Recruits most certainly do their research before committing to a school/living arrangement for 4-5 years, and would feasibly check out the teams fan support as well. Consider that this board is rather negative, but many recruits said they were surprised about the positive fan support at games. Correlation?

4) C'mon, all schools call for their coaches head. Even Ohio St fans did on their message boards this year, and they're in the Rose Bowl!!

I basically agree with Iceland12 and tikited, especially with Iceland12's assertion that bitching has become the national pastime. The other problem is that we seem to be living in a polarized 50/50 country where all the value of all opinions is deemed equal. Further, there's no middle ground and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.

I like Brewster, but don't love him. I'm a Gopher fan first and foremost and everything else is incidental to that. If he can't do better in a couple of years, he'll likely be gone, but nobody here, regardless of how much they love or hate him is going to be involved in that decision (unless Maturi has a moniker none of us knows about).

Mason had 10 years with middling success and he was one lazy, arrogant SOB. Maybe Brewster isn't the right guy, but after almost 20 years of trying something else, it's only logical to think outside the box.

I just wish the place were more positive, but I'm pushing a rope on that one.

1) It is asinine to blame posters for hurting recruiting. Put the blame where it should be - poor performance!!

2) Why would you want a recruit that is so sensitive that he can't take a little heat on a message board? Do you really believe that a kid with that type of make-up is going to come through playing in the Horseshoe?

3) This message board is no different than any other college football message board.
