WVA Boards pissed...

Rural Minnesota is as awful as rural anywhere...

if you don't think this state has inbreds, then you've never been to a Vikings' game.

Thems fightin words. Actually I don't think rural Minnesota is awful at all and actually prefer the rural life to being in the metro. We may have our share of hicks out her but the metro has their share of snobs, inbred hick and loads of people who can't drive worth a crap.

the mullet, faded John Randle jerseys, hunting apparel, THICK accents and jeering of black quarterbacks are indiginous to the rural areas of the state.

I'm sure your extensive experience "cruising through" places has allowed you to cut a lot of corners in understanding culture and geography.

Going to a Vikings' game or the State Fair will shake your beliefs in human kind. I've been around this country...but haven't been the redneck hotbeds like northern Florida so I might have to take your word for it. Parts of Oklahoma were fairly scary (in a, holy Sh** what year is it? type way) when I cruised through there.

I'm sure it would. Fortunately I live nowhere near either of those since both of those are in the metro area.

If by different you mean stronger, smarter, and more handsome men with above average children and women who are attractive and exude class... Then I agree.

Ok the first part might be true (and that's a maybe), but smarter and better looking and classier? I don't think so sorry man.

I don't mean to rip on rural MN, they are still part of our great state, but there are some clear differences that aren't hard to notice.

It's called not being a self absorbed little snot. You should try it once.

Moderators, this post started with discussing the whining of WVA fans on their board and now has become an attack on the people who live in rural areas specifically rural Minnesota. Please take appropriate action.

I lived in St. Paul for 8 years, 3 in the como park area and 5 on the East Side. No one is disagreeing that there are clear differences that aren't hard to notice. They just don't fall in favor of the metro, that's all.

Yeah everyone dreams of owning a house in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but miles of farmland and the smell of horse droppings everywhere.

dear lord. people act like their sh1t don't stink cause they are from the great white north. leave the twin cities every now and then and you will notice that there is not much difference between out state minnesota and west virginia or lower alabama (except for the fact that alabama is more diverse).

this is the original unintelleigent post. I have lived in West Virginia and have lived in outstate Minnesota, and currently live in Minneapolis. If you think West Virginia compares at all, you are clueless. The only difference between Urban areas and rural areas in Minnesota is that in rural areas people of lower socioeconmic class shop and frequent the same places people of higher socioeconomic class do, in contrast to the cities where they do not. But obviously most dont see this because they are rich, and think that because they don't see people with mulets shopping at byerlys they must not exist.

Sounds like heaven, actually.

No joke.

And now people from rural areas are sending attacks back at those from the metro area. Nice to see you guys are so superior in your behavior.

Not one post attacked the metro area. Do you disagree that metro areas also have their share of hicks just as the rural areas or something? We are all fans of the gophers so it would be nice if some fans didn't feel the need to make assumptions about fans from other areas of the state.

If you smell something, it's not from horses. Not that I'd expect you to have a clue of what you are talking about though.

This hits it on the head. VERY TRUE. It is much more difficult to understand this if you are educating yourself by passing through town.

How do you know the toothbrush was invented in West Virginia?

I have nothing against you or any other people from rural areas, but nobody can deny that rural areas have far more hicks and just all around strange and creepy people.

I will deny and argue that any time you'd like.

Some people consider ANYONE that lives outside the city to be a "hick". If you are one of those people (and I suspect that you are), I have no argument. I can't compete with that.

Well for one I am not one of those people, and you can deny it all you want but it doesn't take much to see it.

BREAKING NEWS

Another person shot down in the Twin Cities. Early reports indicate that the shooter is non-creepy.

Absolutely. It really doesn't take ANYTHING to see it if that is what you are programmed to see.

Kind of like some outstate people when they watch the news and wonder how anyone could live in a place where there is "so much crime"... oblivious to the fact that by percentages, it is pretty safe to live in the Twin Cities.

Ignorance creates a lot of misperceptions. Especially when there are always fresh examples ready to confirm one's misguided opinions.

If you think it is strange and creepy to say hi to people, care about things other than just yourself, and generally be nice to others then I guess I can't argue with you.

I have had an officiating class last quarter. We had a big 12 ref from Omaha (I'm not going to remember his name) come in and talk with us. He said that this year at the NCAA clinics they were told if someone hits the ground call a foul. As the rules are written it's hard to have that much contact and their not be a foul. They want them to start calling these, even flops. They were told to call every flop as a block. I saw that happen twice last night. The NCAA said that they are going to get a call on EVERY no call, but very few on bad calls.

He said the big thing they want to get away from is the idea that you need to protect the stars. So from start to finish every game is going to be called tight. At least until tourny time; calls always come slower at the end of the season.

That doesn't explain Trevor's fourth foul at all.

CentralGopher,

Maybe it's cool on some boards to whine to the moderators, but we generally fight our own battles around here. Man up.

This post shows your ignorance. The only time I ever smelled horse droppings was when the Amish would come to use the phone. ;) Lysol would solve the issue.

Yep...a classy bunch they are...

There are classy ones everywhere. I remember seeing a Vikings fan in the mid 70's urinating in the north bleachers at Met Stadium after a Vikings game while fans were filing out underneath the bleachers. The stadium was @ one-third empty at the time. Nothing but class.
